Verizon Note 2 Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

As far as prices, you get what you pay for. If you want to be on the best network with the best coverage and most 4G, you'll pay a little more.

I live in the DFW area and actually am getting better speeds at home on their HSDPA+ than I could get from VZW LTE. Granted I had a GNex, which blows as far as LTE signals and speeds, but still pretty nifty to still get speeds as fast as my DSL. I will say call reliability and network speeds on TMo around here off crowded towers sucks and reception at my house is a bit weak even though speeds are fine. Basically though network here in DFW is a choice between Good and great. If I travelled more I would be annoyed, but really going forward the SHAFT AT&T got related to not getting to buy out TMo will mean TMo has pretty similar coverage to AT&T going forward.

Also, my DFW area here will probably be one of the first to get TMo LTE next year and the Note 2 on TMo is ready for it.

I love my GNex but it's sluggish as anything and the radios REALLY blow for LTE. Up in Rochester where I am for business right now I get great coverage, (despite not getting so a mile from VZW HQ in NJ), but the phone is still lackluster for me. Can't wait for my note 2.

Exactly. And here in DFW we can use ALMOST any of them unless we have a house somewhere a good ways off the beaten path a ways outta the more suburban areas of the area. I actually live in a somewhat rural mixed with suburban area west of Fort Worth and TMo seems FINE out that way. Granted AT&T and VZW are much better out that way, but no one is bad.

Yeah, cause I only have the GNex and Droid Charge to compare these new TMo Note 2's too I can't say it's VZW that is slower at my house so much as the devices. TMo seems to have a weaker signal than VZW, but the Note 2 is able to pull more data through the weak signal HSDPA than the GNex can manage on bit better LTE 700mhz signal. If goto the right spots in the house the GNex would probably be faster and a VZW LTE device with better radios would probably be better everywhere. Part of TMo's weakness with signal is just the higher frequency aspects as my Signal outside isn't too bad, but just going inside kills it. VZW has 700mhz LTE goodness though to blast through walls.

It should be noted that LTE actually does worse penetrating buildings/walls. 3g is much more effective at that
 
;) Just keeping things truthful! I expected some LASER beam efficiency but when I got my work HTC Thunderbolt (worst phone known to man lol) not only was I baffled by the battery drain but the insane low signal strength in a NOT too big office building floor.

The nexus does better but at my home, again less than a mile from VZW HQ!!, I was lucky to get a bar or two of LTE usually having it default to 3g. Now when I looked at T-Mobile's Note 2 the other week and compared to my nexus it had a STRONG signal, and when airplane moded it reacquired quickly too.

700mhz signals do good though at penetrating walls compared to 1700/1900/2100 of TMo. I am sure this is correct though in that LTE needs a higher quality signal to perform optimally. Not sure which ends up more significant?? I know really ultra high frequency stuff almost needs line of sight to work well, but not sure what several hundred mhz does?

OH!! This isn't LTE. This is the towers the network is built out on. VZW's 700mhz spectrum can transmit WAY farther than their PCS spectrum stuff and it's more robust and can handle more data connections and things off EACH tower......so WAY LESS towers have LTE getting transmitted than CDMA for most areas other than maybe somewhat sparsely populated areas running on 850mhz spectrum anyhow that didn't have many towers in the first place.

I think what you are talking about is partially true also as LTE probably needs a higher grade of signal to work well, but bad signal LTE should still be fast than good signal 3G unless it's near non existent. But the weak signal strength is actually a difference in the signal maths used between the two techs to come up with a number rather the wild difference in signal suggested but the actual raw numbers.

Lots of stuff going on contributing to this probably accurate perception of VZW LTE. Just that it's really more network build out configuration rather than LTE tech capability thing.

Based on how much verizon sucks, I tend to believe you. A month late, horrible logo, and locked bootloader...ridiculous :mad:
 
I'm up for a renewal on 11/17. I called VZW and asked if I can pre-order now for the 11/27 release. They said that with hot releases they can't move the renewal up. I explained that I wasn't getting the phone until after my actual renewal date, so that rule shouldn't really apply. I just wanted to pre-order as early as possible hoping for an earlier shipment. No luck....
 
call again, ask to speak with retentions

threaten to cancel your contract when its up if they dont let you pre-order

..they will insta cave

Seeing a lot of people running around with the unlocked versions...I want one badly now. That logo on the home button is such an eye sore though...

Im ditching Verizon and going to T-mobile and using it on straight talk or family mobile.
Verizon's is ulgy and its $50 more (off contract). So T-mobile here I come in 2 weeks! Out the door price is $695.19....OMG!!!!!!!
 
Regardless if its the 27th or the 29th it doesn't help that every time I see a Verizon commercial I wanna pull my hair or the person next to me hair's. it still about a month away :( I'm growing way to impatient!!!

One reason why I love AT&T...I am up for renewal on 1/23/13, and I was able to pre-order the phone with a 2 year contract price, for $299.99, no questions asked :D I just resigned a new contract now instead of then.

Just needed my own comic relief I guess as the days waiting for this device seem to get longer & longer. Not to mention we have to move our clocks back tonight so that just adds insult to injury. :banghead:
