Verizon Note 2 Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

However...I see reports of it not working with Jellybean.

I think the one I have installed is Extended Controls

There are one or two others I have installed I'l check em momentarily.

Many of the reviews claim this app causes the phone to stay awake. Looks like it began after an update and hasn't been fixed yet. How's it working for you?

I may have missed it but I didn't see anyone mention that I couldn't go into a store tomorrow and pay full price to retain my unlimited data. I am being told that the retail stores will only sell contract phones........SO......I now had to place the order online and won't get my now until Friday. ugh.

I think I would've just waited til tomorrow, went to the store and bought one. Had they said you couldn't then I would've went the order route.

I've never had this problem and he widget remains in a homescreen. I'll look into that though but really the wifi hotspot is what I'd use it for now. Or airplane mode which I think is easily accessed now from that quick lull down menu

Yep, this is my basic experience with residential delivery. They almost never even bring the package to the door. It's amazing.

I mean, UPS does, every time. I even know my UPS driver at this point (he comes by A LOT considering my Amazon Prime account haha), my dog accidentally jumped into his truck once to hitch a ride lol.

If I can CHOOSE my carrier, it's UPS only. They're straight up, deliver at the same time every time and they don't screw around. The guys I've had deliver my stuff over the years are always nice and courteous. The FedEx residential guys are buttheads, they're never pleasant. It's so weird.

My husband says it's a generally acknowledged problem with FedEx. It's not just us, it's the way they seem to run that company. Poorly.

----

Oh and come to think of it. My husband used to live in an apartment with his mom when we were teenagers and his FedEx guy ran door to door, I mean running his ass off with packages. I think if they're fast at delivering stuff, maybe they get some kind of bonus stuff. Crazy people. What happens if he trips on the sidewalk and it's fragile? Oh, wasn't him who broke that vase. :P

Part of the issue is that FedEx Ground and Home Delivery employees aren't actually employees of FedEx at all. In many regions of the country (if not all), they are contract employees, often of a small business that's nothing more than a FedEx franchisee. I know FedEx has been catching some crap for that arrangement recently, but it doesn't appear to be going anywhere any time soon.

Me personally, I prefer dealing with UPS over FedEx for ground shipments. After all, UPS is the one with the ground network. Sure, FedEx has a ground network- but that's far from their specialty. Functionally speaking, the two companies are very different despite similar service offerings.

... but I shouldn't say any of this too loudly seeing as FedEx is (I believe) the largest employer here behind the government (of course) and the city schools.

Can anyone that has received their Verizon Note 2 confirm that this Samsung widget at the top is missing? On the demo I played with at best buy it was missing so just wanted to confirm its missing on the officially released phones.

For those who don't know it will be called Digital Clock in the widgets. I saw there was a dual one but not the single one like shown in the screen shot.

I do not see that widget. Great phone though!

@ Mix I know you said Verizon but I've got a Sprint Note 2 and it's there. In your post you called it Digital Clock. In the phone is called Clock Digital.

Maybe it's just named different :)

Mine hit Memphis Tennessee last night and is in Rochester this morning! It'll be at the hotel by 3pm but I won't have it till about 515ish meh!

So I guess it should be pretty easy to activate...just power on hopefully andi won't have to call VZW !

Not there. Dual Clock (Digital) is all we have...

Excited. Got a phone cal from the store last night letting me know they were in and going on sale today. Going to pick it up at lunch. And then... back to work projects. Will have to go through all the online user guides this weekend.

On a side note, anybody want to buy an HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus or Sprint HTC Evo? :D

Man FedEx is really slow, eh? Stuff coming via UPS tends to already be on a truck and on its way by 5:30am. It's almost 8am here and it's still sitting in a facility somewhere close by. I wish I could just go pick it up.

Well I had a dream (or was it a nightmare) last night that they shipped me the wrong phone...it was a Galaxy Note 1 but it had like a 3" bezel, and the screen was centered in the middle looking like the outside tiny screen of one of those old flip phones lol.

Then again Drop Dead Fred was also in my dream.

Picked up a grey GN2 at the local VZ store about 10 minutes after opening this morning. There was another guy looking at the GN2 when I got there. They have a nice kickstand cover, but it doesn't belt-clip, so I skipped. They also had flip-cover cases, but only in white. I passed on that...I'll wait for something better. I haven't had much time to play yet, but it does fit in the pocket...and GMaps is much more pleasant to use on this massive screen. I'll be using GNavigation this afternoon...don't have a way to secure it in the car yet :(

Only bad thing I have to say so far is that Samsung accessories suck compared to Motorola. The desk stand and car holder for my OG Droid still rock.

Im here at BestBuy waiting for them to open. A few folks here, but may are for other reasons. Should have mine shortly.

I just waltzed right into Verizon and got my mature Note 2 and my wife picked up her baby iPhone 5.

I used her iPhone for a couple minutes to check out the new features and then the old set in very quickly.

I'm coming from iPhone as well so I have a lot of mess with later. I've kept the phone in the box so that I can stay focused on work and putting up Christmas lights.

:-)

Can't you just buy a vehicle dock from a third party store/different carrier? It's not like these devices are different in build.

Got a call from the Verizon Wireless Executive Relations team about my pre-order debaucle. They're crediting me full shipping for their screw up, so all I'm really paying for is the full price phone lol thankfully.

I should see if I can get some free spare chargers outta da deal!

Told you they'd take care of ya Petie!

And thanks much appreciated. I was really getting a bit frustrated since it's not just a "new toy" for me but something I really integrally need for my new job. My galaxy nexus has been rebooting randomly more than ever and I was at wits end! Longest month ever.

Hour and a Half til the local store opens. So sick of using the back up dumb phone. Don't realize how much i use my smartphone til i try to google map something on my dumb phone. :D

I have mine and man is it sweet. Still playing with it though. Can someone make a master list of tips/tweaks/hints and so on? Spread out over 24 pages, I am sure I haven't found them all.
