Help Verizon Note 3 Kit Kat????

I've seen a few posts on different forums with people saying they can't disable the VM app. I'm not sure how or why, but when I had this problem yesterday after updating, I was in my App tray, tapped and held on the VM icon, and dragged it up to "disable app" on the top of the screen, and it worked just fine for me. I'm running 4.4.2 stock Note 3, Verizon, with no modifications to OS or Launcher. So, I'm not sure why others can't do this?
Yes, I noticed that. I should have amended my post.

I noticed a few of the apps were like this. The Disable Option was not available (nor is the Turn On after you disable them) except in the Launcher. If you even want to enable it again then all you have to do is show disabled apps and enable it from the App Launcher.

If I can get Verizon to give me the Basic Version for free, then I'll definitely enable the app and start using it. I only enabled Voice Mail on my account because that app said I could get VVM for free. No VVM, and I don't even want VM service on my line, because I loath having to call in to check it. Just IM me or call back later, instead, IMO.

I did as the message I got said and dialed *611 for Verizon customers service. I got connected to a representative pretty quickly, explained the situation and they removed the block on my account for the service just like that. I was then able to complete the setup for the VM application. The rep agreed that if the phone said I could have the basic version for free, it would remain free.

So far so good.

For those using the free Basic Visual Voicemail.

Go into the Voice Mail application. Hit Menu, and Unsubscribe from the Trial. The app actually subscribed you to a Premium Trial and doesn't go to Basic Visual Voicemail until you end the trial.

If you don't do this, chances are high that your bill will go up by $2.99/mo.

After you end the Trial. Go Back into Voice Mail and Subscribe to Basic. Then after that it will be what you actually thought you were getting when you first set the app up :-)

Just avoid hitting "Upgrade to Premium." The REPs had no clue what I was talking about when I called in about this.

It works now, though :-)

There is a much easier way.

Just go to the App Drawer. Press and hold the voice mail icon. You will see an option at the top of the screen to Uninstall. Drag and drop the icon to the Uninstall. It will ask you if you want to Uninstall updates, click yes, and the App will be gone.

The visual voice mail is free to use. It's just the app does the trial by default.

If you disable it you can't use it :-)

Is this what you received when you got it? After I installed the new update, it did say that the BASIC VVM was free. However, I had the error code (see below) and when I called Verizon, they said that it was showing as "looping" the free and premium service and she fixed it. I'm guessing that now they know that something was wrong and that the basic service really is free. She set it up for me and now I have the basic service at no charge. Of course I'll keep my eyes on my bills.

the update went seamless for myself, but two niggles that i have:

1. i hate the hideous white icons. i do like that Samsung had enough influence over Google to keep the arrows though, very useful for diagnosing connection issues (since i am in the fringe, i have tons of 'em). but i can only hope that Google will eventually realize they were wrong about black/white icons as they were about SD cards. i have looked up articles but even root users cannot change them back to the 4.3 style.

2. the email notification icon no longer is sorted by account type. used to be i had a separate icon style for Yahoo!, Gmail, and Hotmail/Live and the icon had the logo for each, in full 3-D color. i could tell which account the notification belonged to. now, it's just a singular white generic envelope icon. no way to change it to sort by account.

I was very fearful of the S5's hideous, iOS 7-inspired flat design showing up, but happy that the only annoyances are those two. everything else is either left alone or actually improved (icons in the app drawer are a bit smaller and are more polished and 3-D looking than before; the lock screen has smaller fonts and more room and no sign of the hideous persistant flat camera icon)

Just updated to kitkat earlier today, don't noticed much of a difference except that the battery icon is now solid white. I liked the green and red colors previously is there a way to get that back with kitkat?

Well, I happened to check my account last night and guess what? I was being charged $2.99! I called and they said that they didn't know what was going on but they would keep an eye on it because credits don't show up until after the bill is generated. Not sure why this is even an issue! However, I recommend that everyone check your bill just in case you are being charges when you thought you were getting the basic service for free.
