Verizon PAID ME $30 to upgrade!

So, after my NE2, the INC cost me $100. Then, I was able to retroactively apply that $30 coupon to my preorder, bringing the total cost to $70. When I got the phone, I sent away for the rebate with proof of purchase. I just got a $100 visa debit card from Verizon in the mail, bringing my grand total net to +$30 in my bank. WOO HOO!:D

How did you get the $100 rebate in addition to initially paying only $100 for the phone? I understand that the NE2 discount can be up up to $100, but the Incredible's starting price is $200 after a $100 instant rebate for online orders or after a $100 mail-in rebate for store orders, right?

I have no idea how or why this worked. I figured I would try to send away for the rebate anyway. I tried this with my previous storm 1, but verizon sent me a letter saying my rebate was already applied at the time of purchase. I was expecting the same to happen with the INC, but figured it wasn't gonna hurt to try. Glad I did it! Another one slips thru the cracks!!!!

Awesome way to rip off your carrier. But hey i'm not going to pass judgement, thats not my job, at least not anymore ;)

hey, I didn't rip anyone off. I sent in the proper forms, with my receipt and proof of purchase just like they said too. I didn't hold a gun to anyone's head. I didn't whine and/or complain about cost/shipping. Feel free to call Verizon and complain that their own employees might be making mistakes. I certainly don't mind (as long as its in my favor :))

wow.

you knew it was not right for them to give you another rebate, after the instant one, but you still "tried" it anyways.

whoa! sensitive group. I'm sorry to have offended anyone. You're right, in the sense that I knew, but tried anyway. I guess I like to push the envelope and see what else I can get. If I had talked my way out of paying a contract fee or convinced a rep to "through in" something of value to sweeten the deal on a new purchase (despite it not being part of the original sale), does that make it wrong too. They didn't have to say yes when I "asked", but they did. I wouldn't have been angry if they said no. Should I not have tried to use that $30 coupon online with my pre-order too?

I had to return my original INC due to a piece of dust in the camera, VZW credited my account $200 and sent me a new phone. Must be a glitch in their system, but hey, im not going to complain :)

You'll most likely see the new $200 charge once you bill cycles for the month, so dont count yours eggs before they've hatched. ;)

You may want to double check. We generally will ship out a brand new device at regular price and then issue a credit once we get the defective phone back.

And to the OP. That may be caught down the line and applied to your account as a debit. Just hope "if" that does happen you dont call in complaining that the company fixed their mistake.

Just be prepared for something like this:

Was there ever a physical mail-in form for an Incredible rebate? If so, link/file PLEASE!

fwiw...I paid $70 for my Inc from VZW after NE2, instant $100 off, and a $30 promo VZW was "unofficially" running on droid phones...

Wtg OP, how many times did these carriers flake on rebates with so many customers? Finally they are on the other side of the equation.

Sometimes this kind of thing happens. Someone forgets to fill out a form or enters an order with the wrong codes. If there was an ABC method to ensure that this would happen all the time, Verizon would plug the hole immediately.

It would be best if this thread went away so that others may continue to benefit from the mistake.
