I still can't get the "check order status" page to recognize my order number.

My preorder number is 16 digits long. Does that seem correct?

Not that I expect any real information, but I would like to know that they at least really have the order.

Mine is 16 digits also and only thing I get is order is being processed.

So if I preorder on the website now, does my card get charged the 229.00 right away? Or is there a way to just pay it later, like when it ships perhaps.

I thought it would get charged immediately... but I just checked my bank balance and all the money is still there, even though I pre-ordered 3 days ago. You would think it would have cleared by now. So I think that Verizon will not actually hit the card until it ships.

You may want to call Verizon and verify that funds are not charged until the device ships.

Same here. I just checked my CC website and no charge. Any charges are there almost instantaneously. Verizon must charge when they ship.

Hey guys! I am new to this forum and this is my first post :)

I just had an odd experience with verizon and wanted to share it here. So back in February, I upgraded my droid incredible to an iphone 4s with a 2yr renewal via the apple website but when I checked my verizon account today, the system states that I am still eligible for an upgrade and it is giving me an additional $50 "New every two" discount on the S3. I am thinking my contract did not get renewed back in February. Should I just play dumb and pre-order the S3 since it seems like its a system error on verizon's end.

Has anyone had this kind of experience before?

If you are on a family plan, you might have transferred your upgrade from a different line within your plan. Check and see if that happened. If not, Verizon's fail = your gain, haha.

I ordered over the phone, so that may be a difference, but it doesn't seem like it. The lady I ordered from said I would only be charged the $31 when the device ships. Hope that helps.

Another question though, if the S3 were to be delayed for any reason (production, Apple, whatever), what do you think our compensation would be, if any? I would think it would have to be something since they say it will ship by the 9th, but I'm sure they protected themselves somewhere in the fine print

Same problem, I had to order by phone. When I put it all in including my last name it worked with check status of web order instead of phone.

I don't even know where to go to look for the status

There is a link on your email confirmation. There is also a link for a CS survey at the bottom of the confirmation that I used to voice my dissatisfaction that no discounts were allowed for web purchases but available for phone purchase. I haven't heard back, but it is the weekend.

LOL, I just check my status again. My SIII has shipped!!!! 240 years ago!!!

Why would you expect some sort of compensation if the phone does not ship out in time? This is the sign of the times when the general consumer feels entitled to something when they don't get immediate satisfaction. Seems rather petty. I mean I've preordered games and movies in my time that didn't come on original release date but I didn't demand the manufacturer or seller compensate me. You would have a case if they already charged your credit card and didn't receive the phone within a reasonable amount of time. However, they wont charge your cc until it ships out.
Lastly, if it were to be delayed for any reason, expect Samsung to use Apple as a scapegoat. It's a surefire way to deflect from any production issues, boost orders, and add fuel to the flames in the never ending fanboy wars.

Compensation...really??? They are taking away our unlimited data this summer ( unless you pay full retail ) & charging a $30 upgrade fee at contract renewel. I don't think compensation is in the Verizon Wireless dictionary.

I'm going to upgrade my wife's phone to the sg3, but when it comes, I'm going to activate it on my account. Will verizon take exception to this?

Compensation? I truly think this is the oddest think I've read lately. I want to shop where you shop.

Do you also get compensation for...

The mechanic said my car would be done at 3pm, it's now 5
The dry cleaner said my down comforter would be done done Monday, it now Tuesday.
Amazon said 5-7 days, it's been 8.
My doctor's appointment was for 3:30, it's now 4:00

Compensation? Are you kidding me? Delays happen, you aren't going to get nor are entitled to any compensation. Just be happy you will be getting the phone.

Had the same thing happen last August. Got my Bionic and then started receiving upgrade emails. Use that upgrade to get my daughter a new phone. Used her November upgrade to preorder the new S3.

I was wondering about this myself, because the last I heard the grandfathering would remain UNLESS you purchased a subsidized phone. There is wording in the Verizon press release that makes me think the GF/subsidation may have already began:

"Customers that purchase a Galaxy S III will need to subscribe to a 4G LTE mobile broadband data package starting at $30 monthly access for 2 GB of data."

Of course that may only be in the release for new customers. Guess we will have to wait till Wednesday morning to find out for sure.

Just pre-ordered the S3 and it gave me the option to keep my unlimited during the online process - no rep intervention required. I would still like to get the Inc 4G LTE and will exchange for it if it comes out before I get my S3. I'll give a full work out but I think 4.8" is too big (I thought the GNex was too big and this is slightly bigger).

Yes, we all got to keep our unlimited data. Now were are just waiting on our phones. If you read my last post, mine has already shipped. 240 years ago!

I had originally placed a preorder through Verizon for a white S3 and then it hit me who was I fooling, even though I liked how the White S3 looked over the Blue I knew I would get a case immediately and I would cover up that White back anyway and if I got a case it would look silly if it didn't match the white, it also would have to be very grippy so it doesn't slide around on me. A white grippy case would get dirty pretty quick.

So I decided to preorder a Blue one through Best Buy. :D

When I ordered my Droid Incredible, it came in a month later due to the heavy demand and high amount of back orders. When I finally got my device, I opened the box and I found a brand new sandisk microsd card (class 10) with a USB reader. I did not order it with my phone, but there was a little note in there from Verizon saying that it was unfortunate that I could not get my phone earlier and that they were giving me the sd card out of customer loyalty. They don't have to compensate you but they did. So don't think that its not possible.

They did this because at the time there was no way to transfer contacts on a cellbrite without a sd card because of the way the memory was stored on the DInc.

When they were running into issues with the contacts transfer they immediately added the sd card you got and all DInc made from then on had them pre installed.
