Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

This is mine line of thinking. Although I do not think the the Iphone 5 will be the only premier phone for Verizon. Samsung is way to big a vendor for Verizon to pass up on the S3. Its not really a question of if Verizon will get the S3 its more of a question of what model and what specs it has. We all now how many different variations of the S2 there are. I am really thinking that if this phone is released before august it will be dual-core LTE not a quad. I think the first quad-core LTE you going to see maybe the iPhone 5. I could be wrong but it just seems to playing out this way.

Thought not in the USA.. petty positive the Huwaei has a quad core LTE friendly chip in their Ascend D quad. Just for the record.

Anyway, I do agree that IF it comes, not likely, VZW will F*** it up and bastardize it so much, it won't be what I believe is coming and hooked on.

Good point about the Galaxy Nexus. I was underwhelmed by its choice of hardware too. And yeah we'll see about Verizon, but you probably right on point. SGS3 really has a chance to blow all phones out of the water.

I hope it does as I am anxious to get a new phone that is a "top of the line" phone. However, I am not holing my breathe as it doesn't seem VZW has a history of bring the best Samsung phones to the network, the GN being an exception.
 
more solid VZW rumors in last 24 hours as the SGS3 is showing up with some VZW ties

"Next up we have a UAProf from a Verizon page that lists out a Samsung device by the model number SCH-I535 along with some specs. If that looks familiar, it’s because the Galaxy Nexus is SCH-I515, the Charge is SCH-I510, and the original Galaxy S (Fascinate) was SCH-I500, so I535 seems likely for the “next” in line. This UAProf lists out a screen resolution of 1280
 
Another person here hoping for a big red release. One gripe I do have with samsung phones however is the radio is very weak, I've had over 25-30 android phones including the newest being the nexus, razr maxx, and rezound, and I must say the nexus had horrible radios and also worked a lot harder trying to get a good signal, draining battery life.

With that being said, I highly doubt the radio situation is fully resolved but I am still in to get the SG3 or Note, whichever comes out first for big red.

Well the MSM8960 comes with one of qualcomm's newest LTE basebands onboard. I'm not sure if radios or included with that or if each carrier adds a radio from someone else and the baseband has no affect at all, but hopefully ths GSIII will be better than the Nexus.

Also many people insult samsung phone reception. I never had any issues getting strong signal on a samsung intercept or my current samsung stratosphere. The Stratosphere holds LTE just as well as my HTC Thunderbolt, and gets better speeds, and for the signal strength that the phone does report, it reports the same strength signal as the HTC thunderbolt and as my motorola droid 2 global. People always say samsung gets weaker signal and how amazing moto is at signal strength and such, but I'm not seeing any difference here in the phones I've had.
 
The absence of chatters or speculation about GS3 on Verizon Wireless in the past few days makes me nervous. Does anyone has any update on this topic?

Ben, it's not the data connection people complain about. It's the call signal strength. 2 completely different systems. Samsung has a noted history of poor phone reception with their CDMA radios. Until they figure that out, or vzn goes 100% LTE. Sammy will have a bad rap on Verizon.
 
I'm sure Verizon is having internal meetings now to decide how exactly they will remove features, add bloatware, rename and delay the phone. If there's one thing you can be sure of based on history is that the Verizon version always has the most bloatware and worst features compared to e.g Sprint's version.

That's not entirely correct. I had three samsung features phones on verizon before androids came and never had any voice call/text issues. Certainly not any noticeably worse than others.

It's only some android phones using Samsung's proprietary CDMA radios instead of qualcomm radios that had some signal reception issues with verizon in fringe/weak areas. Their other smart-phones with qualcomm radios are just as good as HTC, LG. I think they will soon figure that out for their own radios too.

Actually verizon's version of phones has the same amount of bloat its just with at&t and recently sprint, they allowed you to remove *some* of the bloat, which with ics you can hide bloat anyway so it really is a moot point anymore:)

I concur. My Samsung Fascinate is 2 years old. And I never have any call quality issue.

Yes you can hide the apps but they are still installed in the system partition reducing the memory available in the phone.

Soon? They've had this issue for years...

Not everyone lives in large metropolitan areas with 100% signal all the time. My last Samsung was a Saga that had noticeably worse phone reception that any phone I had previously and my current DX.

I followed the release of the GNex and was disappointed to see many having phone signal issues with it too. I've seen similar complaints about other Samsung smartphones released on Verizon. I will follow the release of the S3 if it comes to Verizon and hope they choose a chipset that plays nice on CDMA. I don't care how great an Android device it is. If it's not reliable as a phone, then it's worthless to me.

Same here I am on verizon with a DX patiently waiting/wanting to upgrade. This seems like it may be the first "big phone" to hit this summer and I might pull the trigger but I have never owned a samsung before. I probably would have already bought the GNex if it wasn't for the poor batter and signal issues.
 
I just want to say forget what you hear. No matter what phone comes out you will hear poor battery and signal issues. Try it yourself because every physical phone is different. I have a Gnex on Verizon and I have none of these issues. Battery was decent and got me through an entire day on moderate use. Now I get through almost 2 days with moderate use being it's rooted.

Some say they never had a Sammy phone but then go on to say I passed because it had this and that. Well, you just said you didn't have a Sammy phone, so how can you speak on something you never experienced for yourself? Not being smart but just saying. I hear the One X has great battery life. I also hear it has bad battery life, Tegra or S4. I hear the same story for both. I never owned the phone so I wouldn't know. It already comes with a 2100mah battery standard. That's juice right there. Think of your own realistic use of a phone and see if that's enough for you. Then get it in your hands and give it a week and put it through it's test and confirm for your own liking. No phone is the same physically. Yea, Sammy phones aren't made of iron, but unless you work at Home Depot or some battle ground, then tell me what phone will survive a drop from the ear on the sidewalk? No phone. It might just still function if your lucky but the screen for sure will be broken to where your reflection wouldn't look strait.

Everyone has their own personal satisfaction but I really dislike it when it's pity things, or based off what others say in reviews. Try it for yourself.

This is EXACTLY why I am interested in this phone, having NEVER owned one I am very interested. I never said I had personal issue with a Sammy...I was just stating at this point might as well wait for the S3 as my first Sammy than to pick us the GNex is all.
