[Verizon] Question about NFC and Android Beam

Last night I was hanging out with some friends, we both have kids and they were goofing around so I took some video. My friend who has a Galaxy S3 wanted a few of the videos so we tried to do NFC and it failed each time. I'm rooted and running JBsourcery, he's stock ICS. What it would do is when we touched the phones together, it would confirm on my phone to send it, I would tap on the video, then it would bring up an error message on his GS3 and then launch the Play Store. I've used NFC once before with another friend who has the Gnex to transfer a persons contact and it worked fine. I was also Rooted at the time and she was running stock ICS. Any ideas why it would keep failing?
 
I haven't been able to transfer a photo yet either. Both phones are on jelly bean and each time it tries then after a minute or say it says NFC beam fails. Playlists contacts and web pages work fine.
 
The NFC function on the Nexus is amazing, but limited in the file size and type it can handle. The newer Galaxy S3's S-beam overcomes those limitations... but it currently requires two S3's to take full advantage of it.

I know that's not the answer you're looking for, but right now, they're apples to oranges. :o

Yeah, but this is one I wish they'd share (at least with all their phones). WiFi Direct transfer is really nice and handles lots of files (including videos, pictures and docs). Tried the WiFi Shoot app that's out there, but it's still buggy when it comes to S3-GN transfers. Maybe this will change when they upgrade the S3 to Jelly Bean.

C'mon Sammy! At least show some love to your own family members!
