[Verizon] Quick question about wiping in CWM

Idunno

Just to make sure I don't royally screw myself, when i'm flashing various roms, kernels, radios etc. what is necessary to wipe? I'm used to just doing a data/cache/dalvik wipe x3 before I flash things, but i'm thinking that might be a bit much.

So, what is necessary to wipe pre-flash for:

ROM - ?
Kernel - ?
Radio - ?

And just for clarification, when flashing a nandroid no wiping is required right, we can just flash nand's straight away without issue? (as long as the OS versions are the same)

Thanks

I would ALWAYS wipe before flashing anything, including a nandroid (since you're overwriting everything anyway)... just to make sure no stray bits are left.

I usually wipe data, cache and Dalvik as well. Never had a problem. If you do, you can also wipe System.

NEVER WIPE BOOT!

Just data, cache, and dalvik is fine for almost all roms. There right be an oddball rom that wants you to wipe something else, but that will be posted with the rom. 99.9% of roms just require the standard wipe. And doing it three times is excessive, considering that wipes take quit a bit longer on this phone compared to our old lg ally's.

Hahaha I know three times is excessive, but hey... I like to make damn sure there is no superfluous code floating around in there before I flash :) As for dalvik I believe it is under "advanced" in CWM.

yes Dalvik is under advanced.

I only wipe once...lol But i do take it a step further when going in between roms. I format system/data/cache each. I want to make sure everything is as clean as possible when moving to a different Rom.
