[Verizon] Radios

Running 4.04 radios. Didn't see an improvement in reception area when switching from 4.02, I'd switch from 3g to 4g at about the same locations. The hand off seems faster though. Biggest change was the number of bars that showed up. Been on 4.04 radios since they came out. In the past month i've seen my reception area for 4G expand, but that is tower changes, not radio changes.

I tried the .4 radio when it first leaked on a .3 ROM (aokp and liquid). The bars increased, but dbm's remained the same as the .3 radio. Handoffs were faster though. I was getting 3G where I used to get 4G in some areas....I now attribute that to VZW during that particular time. So after 3 days I went back to the .3 radio.

Now that I'm on a .4 ROM I thought I'd try the .4 radio again. Glad I did. dbm's read higher than ever and handoffs are speedy. I'll remain on the .4 radio until VZW pushes out their OTA and a possible newer version.

was on 4.0.4 but kept getting drops in my data but never any drop calls. sometimes a next wouldnt go through but that was about it. been running 4.0.3 flawlessly. may check 4.0.4 again since i recently went to a .4 ROM but why mess with it if it works? inregards to handoff, 4.0.2 seemed very slow but the other two seemed fast enough to me.

from what i have read, seems like it really depends on where you live and even the phone itself. what works for one may not work for another. if you have tried all of them with no difference, just stick to whatever you have right now and hope big red comes out with a push.

It definitely is location dependent (as all cell reception is anyways), very good point.

What's interesting to me (and I very well may have a lemon phone)...is that I'm having the problems the GSM folks are now reporting. ONLY when I have LTE 4G turned on...it will just drop the data connection and never reconnect. If I turn LTE off, 3G works pretty much flawlessly. I still have an occasional dropped call and I have no idea why (never had that with my Incredible). But the whole "hand-off" thing I've not really been able to test because it appears when 4G cuts out I just have no data signal at all. Strange.

may have a bad 4g sim card...go to verizon and have them switch it out...see if that helps.

Just flashed .4 radio LTE GNEX, noticed a consistent 4G connection, where as before, i would constantly switch back and forth from 3G to 4G. However, DBM's are the same, outragous -100 plus. But I'll stick with it until .5 comes out, least I HAVE 4G and not always on 3G XD

I have been experimenting with all the radios for months and I always find 4.0.4 to work best on my device.

Now that I am on AOKP's 4.0.4 version its much smoother in the transitions.

Before when I toggled one way or the other I could never predict how long it would take or if I would need to reboot to get what I want.

Now its very predictable. If I toggle in LTE it will show the icon and the gray bars for a bit and kick in. Same for toggling it out.
