What is this free hotspot that you speak of? I tried the mobile hotspot app on my S3 and I get a message that pops up and tells me I need to buy a monthly subscription to the hot spot service.
My work around is FoxFi from the play store.

But are those custom roms bug free? Nothing I hate more is an announcement that there is the next gen rom available only to go and see a list of bugs like "camera not functioning", "SMS broken", "sorta stable", etc.
Agreed. I've never used a custom rom before. I was looking into it the other day for 4.4 and people were raving about it and then I saw a list of bugs like "GPS doesn't work, WiFi is spotty" and then I saw somebody doing a video about how awesome it is and he couldn't even open the camera. I'd rather just wait for official releases.

I would wait to update. I thought that they had worked out the bugs but they didn't. It keeps saying that my wifi is unstable and I just had an issue with my screen going black and none of the bottons would work. Then when the screen did turn back on I had a message pop up asking if I wanted to wait or end cause system process wasn't working. I'm going to restore and see if this continues. I never had these problems before.

Yeah the 4.4 roms are really stable and everything works (i run one permenantly with no problems but for complete stability and all the nice added custom features a 4.3 rom is what you'd want. The 4.4 ones are still works in progress and "experimental", very close to stock android so probably better for android enthusiasts :thumbup:

From what I can tell, this update was broken FoxFi as far as creating a Mobile Hotspot if you are still on the Unlimited Data Plan. I have seen several suggestions saying to just hit the Home button when FoxFi loads and you now get a Verizon Popup saying you don't have a subscription for Mobile Hotspot, but I have not been able to get this workaround to work for me.
What does this mean? Does it mean you can remove or add toggle options you may want or don't want?
If so, which ones?
I'm not sure if you have typos in this response, but I have no clue what you are trying to say.
What I am saying is that I currently have android 4.1.2 on my s3.
When I try to use the mobile hot spot app included with the phone, I get a message that says I must subscribe to the service, so it doesn't work unless I subscribe. But I don't plan to.
FoxFi however does work on my s3 without any issues. I don't have an unlimited data plan. I'm at 2gb/month.
Looks like 4.3 breaks any free hotspot options for now. FoxFi isn't working per comments in the play store and VZNs hotspot does not work for free either.
I see that VZN allowed the Blocking feature on this build. My question is whether you can turn off the blocking notification symbol. I set it up to be active at night to turn off LED and sound notifications, but the symbol seem to be active all the time.

Regarding the hotspot issue, specifically Foxfi - I can confirm that wifi tether no longer works. My tab does not even see my S3 (not rooted) as a hotspot. To get tethering to work, I downloaded PDAnet for tablet from the Google Play. Configured it to work on BT (bluetooth) and all is well.
So until Foxfi addresses this (because I don't think Big Red will), BT tether is one way to go.
I did not try the USB option in Foxfi but assume it will work.

Hmmmm...doesn't appear I will upgrade to 4.3 yet unless FoxFi works. Right now it works for me both USB and WiFi tether.
Stupid phone carriers...who really cares if you access the internet via the browser on the phone or the browser hooked up to the phone via mobile hotspot? It's all the same. They just want that extra $30/month is all.

I just noticed this a couple of hours ago. Very strange but I have no new emails or calls or texts or anything and the led was flashing. It is very random and does not constantly flash.
Can this be done to our phones to downgrade if we don't like Android 4.3???

I've been having the same issues. I have to keep restarting my phone now, because it locks up.
I also tried to wipe cache parions, but it doesn't seem to work. Has anyone tried this yet?
Hmmm not having any random led flashes here. I've noticed nothing really except on startup the lock screen won't show the time and date unless you wait a very long time. I like how when you get a text it shows immediately who it's from and what it says...but when you click it nothing happens. It doesn't seem to be perfect yet...or ever

When you touch the message on the lock screen, a big empty box will pop up. Swipe in that box and it will take you to your messages instead of the home screen.
I got this problem with flash also. I just download a new version of flash, I hope this helps. Nope, still not working.
I took the OTA update. Just a little bit of annoyance.
1. My clock (Fancy) is now displayed in a shadowed box instead of transparent.
2. Love the 'move to SD' but now the icons are a grey box with an SD label. All the different Angry Birds games show as 'Angry Birds', without the Star Wars, Rio, etc.
3. Love the WiFi toggle, but now the Mobile Data toggle is hidden way down the list.
