[Verizon] Returned unlocked

Sammy returned my Gnex (under warranty) to me unlocked. That's weird. Is this normal? I don't think so. Anyone else have this happen?

Since they sell it through google unlocked, I would say yes, it's normal.

Do you mean the bootloader was unlocked when you got it? That's different than an "unlocked phone", ie it's not on any specific carrier. Samsung sells Google "unlocked phones," but I don't think they sell phones with the bootloader unlocked.

I read about something like this before. Since it "May void your warranty" I'd call and ask about it.
But the previous thread was a warranty replacement from Verizon.
Was your phone returned fixed? Or is this a warranty replacement?

when you boot the phone is there a little Unlocked lock at the bottom of the phone? if not then the bootloader is locked. Like others have said make sure you're not getting confused with an Unlocked phone in reference to a carrier.

I was unaware that the CMDA version came "unlocked". I was pretty sure that Verizon had stamped their name on it, dumped their bloatware on it and kept the "ulocked" part out of the equation.

You're right, Verizon doesn't sell unlocked phones. I meant to say that Samsung sells Google unlocked phones, who then sells them as unbranded phones that are not associated with a carrier.

If the device came back unlocked it would definitely be something worth looking into, because it should definitely not come back like that.
