Root [Verizon] ROM - HyperDrive RLS6

Factory reset inside of the newly odined mj7? ...before I odined I factory reset it a couple of times, and I think I did a factory reset after Odin? Not sure.
Edit 2...that was the same message I kept getting and how I knew the MJE did not take from Odin.

And then my OTA took. Not sure why the factory reset is needed... Honestly stuck. Can't explain the files still being there since Odin is supposed to reset everything.
Edit... Now that I think about it, one of the odins from xda worked but not the other... Can you try a different Odin program? I don't know which one I ended up using... One was Beans and the other was not.

I'm using the latest Odin 3.09, but I'm starting the factory resets now...

EDIT: I really appreciate the assistance, as this is all new territory for me. I have spent the last 4 years rooting, ROMming and generally working to AVOID OTA updates. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever have thought I'd have to work THIS hard to actually RECEIVE one!

EDIT 2:

SUCCESS!

Holy Smokes what an odyssey! I forgot that Kingo doesn't like laptops, so I rooted on the desktop. Finally got rooted, set up Safestrap and clean install of Hyperdrive. I also revised the checklist above. Now to restore everything via Titanium Backup!

HUGE honkin' thanks to Ryan, who bailed me out on vacation! I owe you, bro!

EDIT 3: I tell ya, when it rains, it pours :(

Went to restore all the stuff I'd backed up and guess what? NO BACKUPS!

WTH? They were not in internal memory, they were on the SD card, and now TiBU's not seeing any of it! Root Explorer can see a Titanium Backup folder on the SD card, but for some reason that's not where TiBU is looking. Trying now to either redirect TiBU OR copy the backup folder to where TiBU can see it. Otherwise I've lost everything recent :( :( :(

I hope I NEVER have to do this again!

EDIT 4: DONE! TiBU was looking in the wrong storage. I told it to search the WHOLE DEVICE for backups, it found the location, and I set it as default. Back to what I was doing...

Wow is about all I gotta say... Oh and WOO HOO!!
Glad you got it... Holy smokes is right, cause I never thought we would be needing to try to take an OTA like this... Although at the end of the day, I really do like this phone!

I'm ALMOST back to normal. Almost.

Where on EARTH is the setting to remove the Hyperdrive lockscreen and replace it with the Samsung lockscreen? For the life of me, whatever I'm selecting ain't getting it...

EDIT: Never mind, FINALLY found it!

Lol jeez Chief!

All I know is I was constantly receiving Wifi issues with the latest version of Hyperdrive so it convinced me to switch to JellyBeans and I love it, probably because I like stock android, which it's completely skinned to remind me of it :)

I experienced something weird with moving to RLS6. When I tried to Install the zip, it kept coming back 'Failed' and said something about verification not passed. I had downloaded the zip directly to my phone so I tried downloading it on my PC and transferring to the phone. Still the same response. Then I got to looking at TWRP and noticed there is a check box that was 'checked' for 'Zip Verification'. Unchecked it and....JOY!
Not sure if it was or wasn't checked before for previous releases or if maybe they left something out of the zip when they packaged it up. Just a heads up if you guys run into any problems trying to 'install' this zip.

DANG!

Trying to get my Note 3 ready for RLS6 and I'm getting storage warnings! I have probably a dozen short threads in Hangouts, NONE in stock Messaging, deleted my entire call log, and danged if it's still not telling me that I'm critically low on storage space! WTH????

Is anyone else getting this and if so, what did you do to resolve it?

My slot is set to 3 GB System, 3 GB data, 750 MB cache.

EDIT: RLS6 failed with Zip Verification checked and unchecked! :( I'll try to DL it again.

EDIT 2: Done! Dirty flashing now, hopefully it won't take a full wipe but if this system memory thing persists then I'll wipe it...

I've got my slot 1 set to 3GB system, 4GB data, 1000MB cache. I haven't removed any threads from messaging or hangouts, restored my call log via titanium backup and an having no issues. However I did re-root and then loaded RLS6 on that partition. I don't know what else to tell you.

Thanks. I have no call log and very few messages. Certainly not enough to fill up the 750 MB!

Rebooted into RLS6 and that stupid Storage Low is persisting! This is a 1.3 GB ROM, I have 3 GB of space in System. I'm wracking my brain trying to figure out what's eating my memory!

:(

And if I didnt want a custom rom. But stock rom with some froozen apps. If I wanted to take OTA I would just unfreezw bloatware. Possibly remove superUser and that would be it.

Is the kingo method to root. Thread still accurate ? I have MJE now and want root

I believe in SuperUser there is an 'unroot' function and then you just have to delete the SU app. I've never done it, so I'm not 100% sure. Yes, Kingo will work on MJE.

Chief, the problems you're having is the reason why I blew out the stock ROM and replaced it with HyperDrive. I've got a stock image if I ever need to Odin back to it. In my eyes (and maybe it's just me) I see no reason to have the stock ROM on the phone too. It's no different than having an unlocked bootloader and flashing over the stock ROM. But, I also wasn't switching back to the stock ROM for any reason so my opinion may be skewed. :D

where did you find the option?

Just put safestrap and HD6 on last night. With KitKat coming any day to our VzW phones I wanted to get it all done.

It was smoothly. But I am now overwhelmed at how much stuff and customization I dont have with stock HD6. Even the wallpaper. I need to go back to my stock. and go application by application and see what setting and preferences I used. Then when I reinstall in slot 1.. I can get them back to how they were.

I'm wondering. with TiBU. if I backup while in stock. and I restore in the HD6 slot and auto-magically get the settings for the apps that I wanted? Not entirely sure if all my preferred apps are stored on the SD card, but I presume that might help?

Anybody know where the stock samsung/vzw wallpapers are stored. I sorta like that fancy water colored looking backdrop.

Also where if the preferred site that will explain in greater detail what the HD hacks do. Some are obvious and some are not so obvious. thanks!

Silly question here, how do you install themes? Flash in SafeTrap? Also, I second the question on how to restore the Samsung lockscreen wallpaper. Thanks guys, everything running smooth so far.

Jetguat, you can restore app and app data from stock to ROM, and SHOULD be okay for the most part. SYSTEM apps and data should NEVER be restored across different operating systems... it's an invitation to disaster.

Dabitz, I can't answer that. I don't use themes...

All of the theming, options and customizations are now in the Hyperdrive Tweaks app... And as long as your stock ROMs TIBU saves the files to your SD card, just like Chief said.. No system app reinstall.. Just regular apps with data works fine. That's how I get mine up and running so quickly!

Is there a tweak to restore the natural Android function of underlining spelling errors in red? Thanks!

Edit: i installed h7 and red underline spelling errors works. I don't expect to ever change roms unless something goes wrong with this one.
