Root [Verizon] Root N00bie

Hey Guys,

I have the S4, v 4.4.2 and I'm trying to root it. I saw that towelroot but it won't work since my kernel was updated recently.

What's the easiest way I can root my phone? I've been googling but everything I find it really old.

Perhaps I need to roll back my kernel? But I'm not rooted at all, so I'm not sure if that is an option.

There is a program called odin install that on your computer.. connect your phone and flash the NG5 then use towel root to root.. then flash NG6 back..
there is a step by step guide. if I find it I will add to this post.

The next step is installing a ROM.. I can't figure that out.. if anyone does please let me know..

Is there anything I need to do before flashing?

No just follow those steps. I think they made a backup.. but its pretty straight forward and easy.

To me rooting isn't giving much because I so far have not been able to install a custom ROm.
I am having the txt problems associated with kit kat 4.4.2 and want to get a ROM with a newer version but so far have not been able to.

I have a MAC, Odin is for Windows only?
