Root Verizon Root - warranty exchange question

I've had my Rezound for about a week now, and I'm getting the itch to root it. I know that rooting technically voids my warranty, and that if I were to relock my boot loader etc. it does say "relocked". My question is, has anyone returned a phone for warranty replacement recently? Does anyone know if Verizon actually checks for this assuming I wipe, factory data reset, remove root, relock bootloader and run stock?

I believe I've seen a couple folks that have. As others have said most store reps wouldn't know what to look for I have five different rooted device's as do Scotty and probably several folks do. A soon after getting a new device that's the first thing i do. You need to feel comfortable doing it.

It's your decision and your risk. To lessen the risk, I would wipe the phone and return it to stock before trying to trade it in to VZW.

I know it's my choice and risk. I'm just asking if others have done it and gotten a replacement. I did once with a previous phone but wasn't sure if there policies had changed.

That's a very valid point. I have no idea how to change the title though. Is that possible?

verizon has said they dont check for rooted devices,and there have even been a couple reports of replacement thunderbolts coming rooted gives you alot faith in vzws refurb program

however,thats not to say that policy wont change. with the ability to easily root by a "factory legit" method instead of hacks and exploits now guranteed to anyone,its quite possible that they may tighten up the reigns.

not to mention that any devices passed along to htc for mfgr warranty back to vzw,may certainly be well scruitinized as well.

after all,theyre both in it to make $$,and you did check the lil boxes saying you understood that your device may no longer be covered.

will anyone notice your relocked?? prolly not. but there are no gaurantees.

best advice i can give is make sure youre payin the $7 a month for asurion. that way,if you have trouble and send your phone back in,the worse case is you have to pay the $90 asurion deductable,and not full retail for the phone.

asurion dont care as long as you pay the premiums. you can send it in rooted,broken,smashed with a happer,or not at all(it covers loss too) and all you gotta pay is the deductible.

dont know if that makes your decision any easier

I recently returned my girlfriends thunderbolt (my old phone) that was rooted with no problem from verizon. The phone wouldn't even power on, so I'm not sure if that was a factor or not.

That is exactly the answer I was looking for. I'm going to take my chances. My Rezound will be rooted within 48 hours (as soon as I have an hour or two of free time with the computer to do it.) Thanks!
