I am a bit new to phone alterations but recently had to upgrade phones. Bought a newish refurb S4 from a big dot com. Changed APN settings to run on tmobile and seems to work but signal is junk...! within 300ft of a tmobile tower and I rarely have full signal. sitting at 2 bars and 3g right now. Fluctuates between no signal at all, to 4gLTE and maybe 3 bars. Maybe full signal outdoors.
I am learning about the front end bootloaders installed by carriers and some things locked down like all the junk apps that I cannot get rid of!
Tmobile is out of ideas. I have data working, messaging working, can talk on phone but sporadic. I have a 30day warranty so willing to experiment with rooting if that can help?
Is there a hidden issue using a verizon phone on tmobile? Model is SCH-I545 which should cover 1900mhz? which is most of tmobile signals.
