Verizon S4 Pre-orders begin 4/25 - Release 5/30 [ UPDATED:release date changed to 5/23 ]

Can we keep this thread as a pre-order/shipping thread? You guys can take the bickering about how much profit Verizon makes and their marketing strategies to a new thread.

sure. my s4 is still on track for delivery tomorrow. :)

the 16gb version, that is. :D

I called FedEx. They said nothing happens over the weekend even if the tracking says picked up on Sat - so Monday is the "official" ship date. For those who paid for overnight, you should get it Tue. I did not pay extra so I get two day service-- so Monday is the ship day, Tue is day one, Wed is day two. Mine will arrive Wed.

Has anyone that preordered from wirefly or newegg seen an update yet?

I ordered from Wirefly a few weeks ago and haven't seen anything change. Cancelled it today and went with NewEgg since it was a couple bucks less and free overnight shipping. Holding out hope that I'll have my phone by Friday. Anyone with experience using these companies with preorders?

How were people able to get overnight delivery? That wasn't an option when I preordered mine online :(

Anytime I have ordered a phone or accessory from Verizon it has never given me an option for shipping. It just generates the shipping type on its own, plus its always FREE so I guess I can't complain.

I live in PA. My phone was in PA on friday. Estimated delivery date of tomorrow but I figured if its in PA, Ill have it Monday (today).
Nope, the phone is now in Tennessee. lol

Ordered yesterday (Sunday) around 6PM. Card charged within an hour.
About 1 hour ago, it was just shipped out. It is in PA.

Estimated delivery: May 22, 2013 7:00PM

Hmm lets see here...
I live in New York and my phone started out in Pennsylvania...
It is currently in Tennessee...call me crazy but I think it's going the wrong way!

Mine shows the same? I can never figure the logic of shipping something starting 10 minutes from my house to Memphis, TN, then back to PA, what is that all about? I would have easily drove to UPS to pick it up on Saturday, or today?

LOL, I am in the same boat, when I saw it go out on Saturday and it was in PA I thought it would arrive today for sure.

Same thing here... the phone was literally an hour away, and now it says it's in Memphis, TN. I'm about an hour from Philly, PA.

Fedex main hub is in Memphis, TN

Probably sent there for "sorting" :)

Certainly.
Just seems like a colossal waste of money for FedEx though.
So many packages start near their destination and travel farther away before getting sent out for delivery.
Thats extra packages on trucks which means less room for packages that actually NEED to get sent that way. Extra packages being sorted in that facility when they could have just been shipped from their prior location which means paying more people for unnecessary sorting of packages which should never have gone to that facility in the first place.
Extra driving to transport all these packages to seemingly unnecessary destinations.

Funny thing is there was a FedEx truck literally right across the street from me today. Guess itll be an extra trip for that guy to come back tomorrow when common sense would dictate that my package should have been on his truck today.

That is just a ton of waste. How can a company operate like that? Imagine how much theyd save if they somehow streamlined it.

The asset FedEx is managing are planes. I guarantee that the majority of packages leaving your neighborhood are not being shipped to a neighbor, but are headed to various locations across the country. FedEx brings everything to Memphis then re-sorts it so the plane heading back to your neighborhood is full of packages for your area.

And the sorting is not done by humans. It is all high speed conveyor belts and electronic sensors. I saw a piece on 60 Minutes that showed the mad rush every night in Memphis. They unload planes, re-sort, and re-load planes all within an hour. Amazing....

Considering everyone who already ordered looks like they are going to get it before release, I don't think it applies this time. ;)

Exactly, those who pre ordered for the same price they would pay in a store are receiving their S4's a few days earlier than everyone else.

Interesting. That makes some sense then. Still seems it could be more efficient.
My package is back in PA as of a couple minutes ago.

Stores release them Thursday and it doesn't look like they are being delivered today - so maybe 1 day earlier than everyone else.

Thursday can't get here soon enough. I'll definitely be there right when the store opens. I showed up at open for the GNex (expecting a line) and was the only lonely sole there for during the 30 minutes it took to purchase. Even the store employees didn't know about it

I ordered from Best Buy and now thinking I should have just gone th VZW route. I want to do the VZW payment plan for a full retail price device but not sure how I can do it at this point.

Yeahhh!!
