[Verizon] Task Manager / Task Killer for ICS

Is it necessary to have a task manager for ICS. I know that a task killer like ATK isn't needed anymore since Gingerbread but what about Watch Dog task manager. I've used it and it helped me out but recently i uninstalled it to see what the phone can do without it and it seems fine. What do you guys recommend. I only used Watch Dog to manage which apps were using up my CPU and killed them if they reached a certain percentage. Some people say that on the recent apps window view that if you swipe them away that it kills the app. I don't think that's the case, am I right?

I've never used a task manager on any Android phone, and for the people I knew that did run them and took my advice to remove them were very happy once they did. I think Android, especially now, does a great job at managing resources on its own.

About swiping away apps on the "recents" view. I've had apps close and continue to run when swiping them away so it seems to me that the answer is yes and no. But I do not know the specifics and why it acts this way. I just let my phone do its thing by itself and don't monitor anything (except battery life sometimes if it's acting up). Try just letting it do its own thing and see how it does you might be happily surprised

You shouldn't be using a task killer/manager. Don't listen to your friends, their friends, the guy at the phone store, random person at the gas station or anyone who tells you otherwise. As mentioned above they are unnecessary. Especially with the newer versions of android, if tasks are running, they are running for a reason and things that don't need to run will be shut down in due time automatically... its best to let the OS do its thing.

When you kill tasks yes you temporarily free up a little bit of space, but this causes all kinds of unpredictable/unreliable issues like force closes, glitches, errors etc... and then when it comes time for your phone to use that process and its killed it has to use extra power/memory/time to start that process again. I know it seems like a good idea but its really not. Rooting/debloating/overclocking/being smart about what you put on your phone is what is going to give you performance increases, not task killers.
