Root [Verizon] Tethering

i have a samsung galaxy s infuse, i installed foxfi my laptop detects the phone but it says no internet access. i also try the 1-click tether no root it dtects te phone it says internet access for just a few seconds and then no internet access.

do i need to have an unlimeted data plan or does it matter what kind of plan i have, right now i have a 500mb but i can change it for a 6gb for an extra $5

Foxfi works fine on SGS3 on Verizon W/O root. I believe Sprint is the only major US carrier that is blocking their users from even downloading Foxfi.

Verizon+Foxfi+S3 = success

There is no cap. There are people who use 20+GB (not me). However, I bet there is a data usage level that flags your account for further scrutiny.

We lost internet access for an hour the other night and I decided to stream netflix to my laptop using FoxFi. I started and high def episode of Battlestar Galactica. Within 7 minutes, FoxFi reported 250 MB downloaded. I couldn't believe it. At that rate, it would have been 2.3 GB an hour. I stopped it and figured I won't stream like that unless I turn the netflix quality down to 0.3 GB an hour.

I'm sure Verizon knows but they probably don't make a big deal about it unless you consistently abuse it.

Have my S3 from VZW but FoxFi doesn't work. Neither does a hard tether via PdaNet. And there's no Android tether option that I can find. Is root my only option?

PDANet 3.50 works fine, on it now with VZW.
You may have a setting off.
Worked from the first day about the 12th of July.
