Verizon to throttle the top five percent of data users.

If you read the pdf every body is subject to the first part but the throttling part is for people signing up after feb 3.That's how I read it.

Well lookie there. The old saying comes true once again. When I said I "assumed" I was being throttled... just like the saying goes..... never assume anything, because doing so will only make an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me'!

:p

I suppose if you want to believe this only applies to those subscribing Feb 3 or later then youre entitled to do so.....

however a simple search of these forums, or google, will show you that they have been throttling users for going over their 5Gb 'softcap' for a very long time....... this is not new.... this applies to anyone who has a data plan..... regardless of when you subscribed....... it always has...... theyve simply put it in writing and are making a point of attracting attention to it because they are about to get an influx of Iphone users.....

this is being done for 2 reasons..... it alerts the new subscribers that they shouldnt go crazy with their useage...... and it gives the current subscribers some peace of mind that the sudden influx of users wont dramatically cripple their service

theres no reason to make a fuss about this ....... those who use huge amounts of data and are effected already know about this...... and those who dont use huge amounts wont be effected..... so nothing will change for anyone

Actually no its the other way around, becuase the vast majority of Verizon's network came from alltel, which sprint is allowed to use 3g on per FCC stipulation.

Well, Sprint's coverage map contradicts what you're saying. There's far more 1xRTT roaming than 3G roaming. Perhaps Sprint's own network overlayed much of the old Alltel network such that the FCC stipulation doesn't buy them a whole lot.

Don't know if I'm throttled, but VZW data has sucked lately. I used to get better speeds on 1x Alltel. They say no issues, but they're probably cutting cutting back for the iPhone launch. If I have to suffer for that pile I'll go back to Sprint and suffer their Crap coverage....at least the data was solid.
