Root [Verizon] Unauthorized Software screen

Please pardon my ignorance on the matter. I haven't rooted anything since the OG Droid. My son tried to root his VZW Samsung Note 2. I am now trying to fix it for him. Whenever the phone is booted up it says unathorized software was found and to take to VZW store for help. Is there anyway to fix this or does he have an expensive paperweight now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

There are KNOX apps you have to freeze with Titanium Backup, or rename with a BAK extension. This should give you a rough idea, but bear in mind, it's for a different device.

had the same thing happen to me once, bootloader wasnt unlocked and i tried to install cwm through rom manger and i had to odin back to stock and restart the rooting process.
