Root [Verizon] volume keeps turning down by itself

Hello and welcome to Android Forums. :)

I see you're posting in the root forum. Are you stock, rooted or running a custom rom? Have you made any recent changes that might give us more clues?
 
I had this happen a lot with the phone in my pocket... The volume keys are really sensitive on the VZW variant, then it stopped when I got a case with a belt clip. Not sure your issue is the same, but its possible.
