[Verizon] Volume rocker issues

Anyone ever have a volume rocker problem with their Nexus? The last two mornings I have woken up to find that my beloved Nexus is unresponsive to the volume rocker. Both times I have eventually been able to get it functioning correctly. But what I can't figure out is why did it happen and what caused it to re-enable itself again. Every attempted method to resolve the issue apparently had no effect. Here is what I tried in no particular order...

reboot, wipe cache, clear dalvik, battery pull, uninstall all battery related apps, restore an earlier nandroid backup, restore a different nandroid from another ROM, back to stock ROM, and flash a different kernel.

Yesterday morning the rocker finally began functioning after letting the phone cool off a bit. But this morning that had no effect. But both mornings, for some mysterious reason, it began to function normally again after a few hours. I should mention that I leave the phone charging all night. (maybe this isn't such a good thing) I usually wake to a battery temperature in the 90's.

Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, or comments...anyone?

Anyone?...Based on the research I've done, it seems to be a software glitch. But I've yet to see anything about a fix. What I don't want to do is waste my money sending it to my nearby cell phone repair shop if it is indeed a software bug. Can someone give me some insight please...
