[Verizon] Which Rom and Why?

I tried AOKP mr1 build-3 and it was very cool, battery life was INSANELY AWESOME. Then I tried a diy AOSP 4.2.1_r1.2; it was ok, everything worked, but needs some more customizations, I'll have to have that as a pet project... Now I'm on Sourcery 4.5.6 and it is pretty awesome. Battery life is not as good as it was in AOKP, maybe I can change that by flashing a kernel. The customizations in Soucery are probably second to none though. Plus the "casting of spells" is a pretty neat idea for "instantaneous" customizations.

Sourcery is also the only ROM I know of as having the few customizations that I want. I'll probably go back to stock when the VZW update comes around and give that a try (if it ever comes that is!). If my LTE signal doesn't improve on Sourcery, I'll just go back to stock 4.1.1 -- on that I've always had strong LTE.

I stayed on stock (but unlocked and rooted right after I got my phone) until this past Sunday, when I flashed my first ROM. I went with Shiny ROM, after reading about it on Droid Life.

Its mostly stock, but with a few extras (power off options being one), and replaces the stock browser with Chrome but I flashed a Mod to get back the stock browser.
Edit: just flashed the Carrier Text Replacement with Willyjay's All-in-one Mod, and the circle battery mod (the text replacement didn't seem to work but I like the other changes).

What finally got me to flash a ROM is that I was having trouble flashing the OTA update file (getting a Status 7 error), so I looked for something that would be mostly stock and this fit the bill. I did get a boot loop but a data wipe put an end to that, and so far its been working well.

+1 for Sourcery. Best by far. Might want to flash leanKernel. I use it and my battery life is really good. Also, you may want to avoid the new radios (had battery drain issues myself).

You may want to reconsider going back to stock when the OTA hits. Have read many stories of people regretting that decision. Besides, you'll want to still be rooted and unlocked when Key Lime Pie hits (pretty soon from what I've been reading) and our great dev community gets their hands on it!
