[Verizon] Who do you think will be the first Rom with 4.2?

1. Nobody knows.

2. Big no thanks to an lg nexus.

My answers:

1. Its fun to speculate! My money is on Jake Day's Jelly Belly! He was the first dev to drop Jelly Bean.

2. Not relevant to the OPs thread...however if Verizon carried it I might buy it. Too bad, no LTE Nexus this year.

Who else wants to chime in! I like speculation threads!

Did the op not ask about the new devices?

Who cares no need to bash each other..

I like the new features on 4.2 -- also a new device without LTE is no bueno.. im still very happy with my galaxy nexus as long as it keeps getting the latest software

I think the first flashable ROM will be a stock port from the GSM version. I wonder if it will take a while to get VZW-friendly ROMs since the first device to have 4.2 (presumably) will be the LG Nexus 4, which won't be on VZW.

I heard that Samsung might be working on a Nexus 3, a smaller Nexus phone.

EDIT: Nexus 3 rumor link here.

i don't know why some people here seem to enjoy the thought of the Nexus 4 failing. I doubt that Google will release another Nexus device on Verizon. Verizon has been extremely uncooperative about updates, wallet, trying to put their carrier stamp on the phone.

As far as HSPA+ speeds are concerned, they're not that far off from LTE. I won't be buying it because I'm under contract for another year, but I welcome the model of selling unlocked phones, without contract for a reasonable price.

why would anyone "enjoy the nexus 4 failing"? i haven't heard anyone say that. what would be the benefit?

i have, however, heard that people just don't want an LG nexus. people, including me, are disappointed that google chose lg for the nexus 4, and i think it'll turn out to be a disaster as far as sales. (unless the nexus 4 turns out to be the first phone LG's made that isn't a cheap steamy pile of crap)

I'd be fine with HSPA+ speeds but...speed is a moot point without coverage. And in my neck of the woods, I'm just not sure who to go with to get Verizonesque coverage, which is basically 100% throughout the state 3G and 4G in and around most cities I frequent. I'm all ears though if anybody has ideas.

Jake Day seems like a pretty good bet for first out with a 4.2 ROM. I also have no doubt we'll see 4.2 ROMs on the Verizon Nexus before the phone gets the update officially, Google has been pretty good about posting source code fast. It was barely a couple days before we got the Jelly Belly Rom.

LG made or not, I think the new Nexus looks pretty good from the pictures and specs. Selling it for $300/$350 unlocked and off contract is amazing. Shame about no Verizon support, and lack of LTE. I was planning on going a different route for my next phone anyhow, the Note 2 in particular has caught my eye, with that wacom pen and battery life, I'd always have a sketchbook handy, which would be great for me.

phone looks great. has great specs and i'm positive it won't be a cheap steamy pile of crap.

but think what you will. it doesn't matter to me. i'm probably going to skip it simply because i'm under contract and i'm not the type to buy every new phone, but i'm sure it will be a great phone.

LG Nexus 4 System Dump Available for Download now -- [Download] LG Nexus 4 System Dump – Android Task Force

Can they base 4.2 roms off this in the future now? Or is there a problem due to it being gsm?

I think devs can port code from GSM to other builds (like CDMA/LTE, hopefully). If I'm not mistakem, this is what the did when Jelly Bean was first released. Jelly Belly was a ported ROM until Google released source code for the other builds.

good thing i'm not trying to convince everyone who is on Verizon. I'm looking forward to leaving Verizon. AT&T has over 100 million subscribers and T-mobile has close to 40 million. I'm sure the phone will sell fine without Verizon and may steal Verizon customers such as myself.

The LG Optimus is a great phone and is getting good reviews. The mobile carriers have sent me test units to try and it's got great build quality. The Nexus 4 should have an even higher quality build with the front/back gorilla glass.

I'm looking forward to taking my unlocked phone and putting it on a prepaid plan with unlimited talk/text and data for $40 on HSPA+.

or T-Mobile's $30/month plan for unlimited text/data and 100 minutes talk time. i really don't talk on the phone much.

There are so many options once you're on an unlocked phone.

i'm not going to base my opinion of behavior on a poll from Droid-Life.

Verizon has the best network coverage and fastest speeds in the US. If that doesn't mean that much to you, then by all means, switch.
