[Verizon] .zip and not .apk

Maybe a dumb question, but I recently rooted my Nexus and when I try downloading an .apk it automatically changes into a .zip and sends me to CWM to flash it instead of just installing it like normal. Am I missing something or something I need to change?

you just need to rename it in root explorer, i dont see how your phone is downloading a .apk and then changing it to a zip

i would suggest renaming them using root explorer :)

I'll try that. Not sure what it's doing either, never had it happen until I rooted. My old Evo was rooted and never had the problem either. Thanks.

The host file is a zip file, some hosts will not support hosting .apk files so whoever is putting it up is just renaming it before uploading it, if you rename it as VS suggest you should be able to install it fine. After you rename it the icon should change to the app's icon.
