Verizon's Vehicle Mount - no 3-pin connection!

I just saw in this video that Verizon's version of the Vehicle Nav Mount for the Nexus DOES NOT have the 3-pin connection that I assumed it would...

I was all set to purchase this mount during tomorrow's release, until I saw that the 3-pin connector wasn't there.

The "GSM version" of the mount apparently DOES have the 3-pin connector capability, as shown in the video here:

I ABSOLUTELY want the 3-pin connector capability so that I won't have to plug in cables everytime I dock my Nexus. Not having that capability is a deal breaker for me.

Can anyone confirm that the GSM version of the dock is fully compatible with Verizon's LTE Nexus (including charging, audio, and of course that it fits)? Also, what do you think is the best place to buy the 3-pin version of the dock if you're in the US?

same here! its a nice looking dock either way (in my opinion). MUCH better than the generic "fits all" car mount that I was almost tempted to buy for my Dinc.

Dealer breaker for me too, and is going backwards from my droid x car dock.

There has GOT to be a 3 pin dock out soon.

WOW, I am very disappointed as well... Do they just not get it? I am willing to spend a couple more dollars to get the GSM dock. Yes, we americans are cheap, but c'mon...

I really want to know if the GSM version will work... I suppose I am willing to spend way to much to import one if that is my only option...

Samsung Vehicle Car Mount for Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Any way to tell if this will fit the Verizon version?

Sadly, the price seems too low, even though that is what I am hoping to pay... without more product pictures the only clue that it might be the 3-pin model is the line "The mount automatically charges your Galaxy Nexus handset without you having to plug / unplug the car charger."

Not enough for me, I would have to call them and be sure. I can't find any bad reviews about the site, has anyone bought from them, before? Or come to them with questions, before?

Okay so i need to clear this up.

3 pins = usb goes into the dock

No 3 pin - cord goes into phone?

no, on all docks, there is a usb slot which a usb cable connects to the dock to deliver power.

3 pins = 3 pin on phone "touch" to charge. (no chance of damaging phone's usb port as seen on OG DROID with dock);

usb dock = actually miniusb v8 enters into the phone's usb slot

So on isb dock you have a cord from dock to lighter for power then another cord going into the phones usb slot?

Sorry not following tthe difference.

This is correct.

The reason people want the 3-pin connector is because all it has to do is TOUCH the phone to charge it instead of risking the damage of the USB to charge it.

On the Samsung vehicle dock with the 3-pin connector, you can leave the base of the dock plugged in via a USB-car charger. The phone will then charge via the 3-pin connector.

The 3-pin dock also seems to do audio-out through the base of the dock, which is a huge plus for me.

Verizon's dock will require you to physically plug a USB cable into your phone to charge. Verizon's dock is purely a holder for the phone, it has no electronic components.

Completely sucks... no way would I pay $30 for a piece of plastic. I am still wondering if the GSM car dock works with the LTE GN.

Samsung Vehicle Car Mount for Samsung Galaxy Nexus

In another forum someone said that the verzion version of the car mount (with power/audio) is part number:
ECS-K1F8BEGSTA
https://www.tessco.com/products/displayProductInfo.do?sku=397209&eventPage=1
If you look at the combatibility tab it does reference the sch-515 (verizon gnex)

That appears to be the same part number as the link you provided. I'm not sure how reliable the source was but it would appear that it is in fact the car mount we need.

Look at the comment on this page: Video walkthrough of the Verizon Galaxy Nexus navigation vehicle mount and spare battery charger | Android Central

I've got a feeling that there will be a car mount (with power/audio) I can't believe that this would be forgotten.

My gut tells me no, because of the pins. I think the thickness will end up being just enough that they might connect, but because it would be only about 1/2mm or so (the pins look to be 1.5mm in diameter on the phone itself, and with a ~1mm difference in thickness that leaves ~0.5mm at most) it won't be a reliable connection.

Hope I am wrong (unless Verizon brings out a pin-using dock later on)...

It won't let me attach links in my first post, so I had to get this one out of the way so I can post my next one..... sorry

Ok, after doing some digging, here is what I've come up with to this point. Verizon is selling the (ECS-K1F8BEGSTA) (http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/...ryDetails&archetypeId=12924&accessoryId=49882) version of the dock. My understanding is that this is simply a phone HOLDER, and will not charge or connect to your phone's audio either. The one we are all drooling over is the (ECS-K1F2BEGSTD) (ECS-K1F2BEGSTD | Buy Vehicle Dock - Samsung Galaxy Nexus). This one includes the 3-pins that we all want. Samsung is also selling the Verizon version on their website. I called Samsung to see about the 3-pin version, and they could not help me after bouncing me around to different people and tech support. They could also not tell me if the CDMA version would fit into the GSM version's dock. Useless. Their suggestion for me was to contact Clove to see if they knew. The e-mail has been sent to them, and I am awaiting their reply. Also, the Version version is going for $39.99 US, where getting the Clove version sent here would be over $70 US. Clove's version is also on backorder until mid-January according to their website.

Thank you for your research! Please let us know what you discover. I want my 3-pin connection :)

The guy at the verizon store ordered a car mount for 40 bucks he said it had the 3 pins...they didn't have them in the store though i had to ask for it

Yea, I ordered one in store too. Tried to call and cancel it after reading this thread but I guess I will have to just return it. Super disappointed that it was different then the World version.
