On which Roms?

Cm7, redux and this Rom all have work arounds to the small cache problem, which work well.

I havent had to use any work arounds for any... well I have always used android flasher for splash, radios, hboots, etc... so I guess that's the main thing but not hard

Fastboot doesn't use cache. Thats why you need to use it for radios as flashing a radio via recovey unpacks to cache. All the other things you need to do via fastboot anyway - but fastboot is better for that as it takes recovery out of the loop.

The main thing affected by a small cache partition is the market. Market downloads to cache. Apps bigger than cache cannot be downloaded.

Redux and cm7 have a work around whereby if cache is too small, the apps download to data/local/download instead. This rom, as james points out uses an expandable ram disk - so if you have used these 3 roms (which you have) then you may have used these work arounds unknowingly.

Ok well insert GB must do also, i had no issue downloading angry birds or any big game like that (around 12mb)

Dan, have you used Scriptmanager (from the market) before, is it any good, or applies the same logic to all ~manager kinda apps?

I haven't but thanks for informing me about it. Just read up on it. Some of it sounds superfluous, like running scripts on boot. This is what init.d support is for. Editing scripts. Well we can do that in text editors on the desire too.

One function that does sound cool is being able to just run a script.

For example, For the eviollet HAVS VDD levels, there is a command to check the current vdd levels. Currently I have to copy the command from a text file, paste it into terminal emulator and press enter to run it. The lack of being able to store commands in terminal emulator is a problem for me.

So if it gets around this? It could have an advantage. However, that particular command generates an output of information so that may be a poor example. I'll have a play though and see what I think and let you know.

EDIT> Further to this, it does indeed generate an output. Looks pretty good for that purpose. It even has a "share" option, but it only selects gmail. But I can quickly e-mail an output. I used to regularly test mounts when I was trying to symlink cache to sd-ext so that would have been handy for that.

EDI 2> Also, its handy if you create a multiple command script, you can test the script as a whole rather than command by command in terminal emulator. Once it works you can put it in init.d

A slight advantage is also, that if you upgrade your rom without a wipe, you wouldnt necessarily have to flash your custom scripts to init.d afterwards as the app runs from data/app and your scripts could be anywhere. That said, using an app to do what init.d will do anyway is a bit of a waste.

Rooted stock roms who want a2sd without wanting to add init.d support could benefit though.

So when I get my new sd card, I need to flash CM7 hboot using Android flasher, then flash insertcoin and I should have no need for my EXT partition for the dalvic cache, Using system info I'm using about 300mb of my EXT already, and I have 40mb free on internal, can any of you see me having any problems? Also what is the battery life like on insertcoin? Can I still use manu kernel on it?

Not sure how much of the ext is occupied, I think 1g is needed. Battery life seems to vary from superb to bloody awful. I'm pretty sure that the Manu Kernel is not supported, as they had to tweak quite a lot to get it working apparently.
Good luck to you :p I assume you have read the last pages of the dedicated xda thread? I'm pretty sure I saw some folks with semi bricks, not sure if its the rom or human error.

its better to make 1gb ext3. battery life is good, not great as like AOSP roms.
you need to use default kernel for certain features to work like camera etc.
dont worry about brick :D

You sure the brick is not a problem, is that a human error? Flashing wrong Rom for wrong hboot etc? I only want to have a look, if I go back to redux I can leave the CM7 hboot can't i?

Well my redux is currently using 87mb so I know it will fit into the CM7 hboot, but can someone using insertcoin post some battery stats, i need to make sure it will defo do a full day. After getting 2 days + from redux and also being able to do anything I want and not worry at all about the battery, need to get some usage stats if you can please users.

Ive just tried the new insert GB, now has the proper lockscreen with the shortcuts etc.. works well for me, some have reported issues with icons disappearing but i havnt as of yet.

Wish he would port the new weather animation!

Any update on battery life peeps, this is important to me coz when I'm working I have no or very little access to charge my phone.

Their reports may not help you as your usage will differ to theirs. You'll need to test yourself really.

sorry if this drags this off topic - but I just flashed the lite v26 iNsertCoin GB.

I have a 650 mb ext2 partition after fat32 on my SD that I was using for ap2sd+ on leedroid, and insertcoin isnt using it for storage space, I know most users have the cm7 HBOOT setup that has a larger internal space for apps, but I thought if I flashed v26 it would automatically pick my ext2 partition up for ap2sd??
what do i need to do to get this to work?

I think it needs to be EXT 3 or 4 for insertcoin, don't quote me on it but I think your best bet is to have a look over at xda to confirm it, or wait here for a response.
