Help Very Slow Nexus S

My Desire HD just met it's demise when it lost a battle with the rocks in the driveway and I replaced it with a Nexus S. I got it because I really like the "Pure" google experience on my Xoom and thought it would be great on a phone too.

The issue I am having is that the phone seems to have real lag when trying to switch between screens or when opening some apps. Is this an issue others have had or did I get a dud?

Actually, mine lags. Maybe I have a bad phone or it could be that its my live screen desktop or some of the apps I have, but it does lag. Also very occasionally (perhaps every 10 days or so) it will do a spontaneous reboot.

I am running stock android and perhaps sometime in future i will try one of the custom roms.
