Root Very strange case

Hello,

Till last night it was all good. My SGS was working perfect on a non rooted version.

Suddenly (probably after an auto' app update) I got those msgs: "force close" for many of my apps.

I tried to uninstall them, one by one. at first it seemed OK, but after rebooting the phone, they all came back.

As I have NO important info on the phone I have decided to perform a factory recovery. After it the phone came back, but still with ALL the old apps, just now they are NOT installed, just appear on the INTERNAL memory card (5gb OR SO)

Ok, now I started to be angry.

I did a hard reboot, the same, nothing was changed.

Ok, I decided to root and install a custom ROM.

Rooting --> OK

when i was trying to get the ROM files it just hit me

the phone doesn't read the external SD card, so Im stuck.

any idea?

I just can't get anything to work on the phone, nor install the apps again. it like always after formatting the memory cards, both, it keeps coming back.

help??

It seems to me that you may have to odin. That's a complete stock restoration. Look at this page for directions. I truly hope this helps. :)

Is your sd verified working and not corrupt:confused:
Try it in a computer to see if it reads it.
Were you moving many app2sd:confused:
Welcome to Android Forums BTW Dannybrazil:)

Hello,

gbiggie - YES I was using app2sd, but I guess it is all automatic no?, cus I didn't really use it ...but he "saved" the app folders on the INTERNAL MEMORY. and I can't get them out of there.

Steven58 -
I did root my phone using "odin".
you said "Look at this page for directions.." I didnt get any link.

If you can help me with some directions on how to do a complete stock restoration, that would be awesome.

Regards,

Danny Sheps.

Danny,

I apologize. I didn't seem the odin link or it got erased for some reason, but my peeps stepped up to help you and cover my mistake. I moved this to the root section because this is now a root issue. Thanks!

Is there a way to MANUALLY erase the INTERNAL memory ?

cus all the apps are there and they keep coming back after flashing.

I read that in odin there is PARTITION clear or smt, can it help ?>

Like ERASE all from this phone, like a blank page?

cheers

Hi Danny. I don't have the Galaxy S, but when you go to settings to do a factory reset there should be an option for something like format USB storage. That will erase everything on internal storage.

I don't know if Odin is different for your phone, but I know using Odin to do anything with partitions on mine could result in a brick. So tread carefully and read read read first. :)

Hey Danny,
Have not had to use ODIN here either too much other than rooting or installing recovery but this video could help you familiarize yourself with the basics of ODIN
