Vibrant battery status lulz?

vibrants been off for an hour...charged from 2%...it then said 100% charged, unplug charger...so i turned it on...it booted up...(still plugged in) and my battery widget read 95% (the built in battery widget for the vibrant sucks) so i go to settings to confirm and make sure the widget isnt acting up, and sure enough, its at 95...so i plug it in...few minutes later it chirps 100%...i unplug it...96%...and again a third time...chirps fully charged...unplug is at 97%...whats going on? at first i thought it was funny...now its just puzzling...love my Vibrant...love the battery life even more...its fantastic...but this is just annoying... :P

EDIT: just turned it off...plugged it in...3 minutes later chirped 100%...UNPLUGGED it...THEN booted it up...now reads 100% charged...ive noticed its done this before...(taken 5% to boot up...) but only when plugged in while booting...why? lol

Two reasons: one, there are services running when the device is on, plugged in or not. There might also be some syncing and updating in the background data-wise, all gradually draining your battery. Two, just because the charging cable is plugged in does not mean the battery is charging; it'll reach 100% and then stop charging (otherwise it would over heat).. there is a cycle of charge/not-charge after it's reached that 100% threshold.

thanks for the quick response...i figured all that...and i would not care (in fact i would expect) the battery to drain 1 or maybe 2% upon booting...but 5? then saying its fully charged (while turned on) being unplugged and being instantly at 96%? i just found it odd...i use the Free Advance Task Manager and Advance Task Killer widgets...use them religiously...they rock...use them together, and my battery lasts forever...
