Vibrant, Nexus one or Iphone 3GS

Go out and mess with them for yourself and see what you like better. I would stay away from the iphone since its not even a Android phone but like I said the best way to find the right phone is to go and play with them I have been using Android since the G1 came out and I dont think I could ever leave it. btw I use a Vibrant and I love it right now its the best phone tmobile has the G2 is not to bad either but I dont like the keyboard issues a lot of people are having with it. I went to play with one and it is way to loose some owners of the G2 are saying that there G2 is not doing it but from the 3 I have played with they all feel much to loose and I like Swype better anyway.
 
I went for the Vibrant. It seems it has a few issues still but I think in the long run it will be the much better phone.

Obviously I say Vibrant, and if you are a smart shopper you can get one for really cheap with 2 yr contract.

T-Mo has buy on get one free (bogo)
 
Vibrant is technically the most powerful phone of all of them. I'm going to go ahead and say don't get a iPhone 3GS, it's older now and also if you are using with t-mobile your data plan wont work (I think). Vibrant is a great phone, it does has some strange issues though, though fixes are on the way... it's just taking a bit of time :(

Without knowing what you are going to use it for it's hard to offer a suggestion.

In general I'd say iPhone if you want basic simplicity.

Android if you have the patience to learn something new. I have a high personal preference for Android & the Galaxy S series, my second choice is Droid X. Both are excellent.

Are you already on T-mobile? Upgrade? New customer? If you are not already on T-Mobile, consider shopping around the other carriers. All carriers have the Galaxy S phone variants.

Look at this link, depending on either a family plan or individual plan, sometimes the other carriers are actually cheaper than T-mo...sometimes T-Mo is cheaper. If you check out the link below, if you scroll down, I also provide info on the differences on the phones for each carrier.

His data plan will work, however, it will only stay in EDGE.
iPhone uses different frequency for wireless network.
I believe, its missing the 1700.
 
Wait for the Samsung Galaxy S 2.

It will have 2ghz, 1gb ram, 8mp camera, 1080p video recording, 4.3" screen and be out with Gingerbread 3.0

I doubt the Vibrant will get Gingerbread 3.0 support from Samsung.

They will try to get people on board 3.0 with a new fresh device.

By December of this year or most likely January of 2011, the Galaxy S will be old school and forgotten.
 
If you like the freedom to root your phone on a constant basis, Galaxy S phone is the way to go. Keep in my the GPS problems, no clear indication if hardware or software yet, updates have failed to resolve the issue. If you plan to use the phone as is, then I would skip the current Galaxy S phones and see what's coming down the road or go with an iPhone4. Samsung is behind the times updating the Galaxy S line, just about every other phone manufacturer is already on Android 2.2. Based on their current response times, I don't see Android 3.0 making it to the current Galaxy S phones. Have to agree with the previous poster on this one.
 
i have been with t-mobile for 2.5 years now. I currently have a sidekick LX and hate it, thats why i want to get a new phone.

The phone i am looking for must do these task good:
E-Mail
google maps
web browser
E-Books
full access to Excel
at least decent battery life since i am outside for the majority of the day.



I rather buy the phone separate without the plan because i dont want to play the $60 a month
 
I would say Nexus One if you can get a hold of one. You won't be waiting for software updates like the rest of us. I loved my Vibrant when I first got it because it's my first smart phone. But after I saw what it could be with better software, I wish I would have done more research. And I don't know about your area but T-mobile is weak. I came from Verizon and the network is inferior. I should have gotten the Fascinate or an unlocked Nexus One.
 
yeah i think in a few months the galaxy s is going to be outdated unfortunately. i'm still gonna stick with this phone for a while though, since i'm a cheapy. i wish the battery life were better.
 
well, in a few months all phones will be out dated.. right now the Galaxy S line of phones are the most powerful and this month we will be getting 2.2, I wouldnt wait to buy a new phone since right now the phones that are being sold are top of the line and will be good for at least 1 year and when I say good for a while. if you think about newer and better stuff is put out every month.. I mean really there is not much to pick from besides the Galaxy S if you want the best screen, fastest hardware and it even has the best GPU. look at what happened with the G2 it was a fail due to the fact they launched it with hardware that is not as good as what was already out there not to mention all the problems they are having with the G2 I would have to say the screen wiggle on that phone is just bad and it can only get worse with everyday use. I went in to the t mobile store today and all the staff had the Vibrant besides one guy he had the G2 and I pointed out on the display models about the keybored/screen being so lose and he takes his out and he looked kinda sad.. if they would have went with no hardware keyboard the phone would be much better but even then it still has the older CPU when you compare the G2 newest smartphone besides the Galaxy S, The Hummingbird CPU is A LOT better and the GPS is much better too. so really I know a lot of people want the best there is even if the best is only 1ms faster but if you want that you will need to buy a new phone at least every 4-6 months.. I pretty much pick up a new phone every year unless there is not something better out at the time and thats the reason I had my G1 for so long, I had it from release date and just got my Vibrant about a month and a half ago. It is crazy how 2 years can change so much.. I really was hoping the G2 would be better built tho, as the first one was really nice, I do understand the keyboard on the first one would wiggle a bit to but nothing like the G2, a lot of people are turning in there G2's for the Vibrant and thats even when they went from the Vibrant to the G2.. its funny.. the main thing is its just a phone and dont worry about it to much. people expect far to much imho.

The thing that discourages me in buying a vibrant is the future updates. Is a nexus one worth buying for $350?

I disagree, my sister has her unlocked iPhone 3G on our Tmobile network and plays around on 3G all day... no issues. That was one of her concerns, the limited functionality...

She found it really hard to give up my old Motorola Cliq, LOVED the android, but since the iPhone was given to her, she wanted to use it... not to mention the screen and overall feel reacted better. No doubt the iPhone is better than the Cliq, but better than the Vibrant? I really do have to side with the Vibrant.

I've had an iPhone before, and on the ATT network. I was blown away by it. I loved every minute of having that phone, this was even before the App Store was launched. However with today's phones out, the Nexus, the Galaxy S, the EVO... you have to admit that Apple's hardware is no longer standing in the limelight as the cream of the crop.

And I to agree with the above comment, New phones will alway be coming out. If you spend your time waiting for the next thing, you'll always be waiting. What i did before buying my Vibrant is to look at all the phones online, see which one's i liked. Then look at the specs, user reviews, and then go down to the store and mess with it. If it reacts how i want, has the features i'm looking for, and generally feels like i can hold on to the phone for a while without feeling like i really need to upgrade then i'm all good.

Sure the GPS problem is a bit annoying, but i dont use that everyday. Plus Google just sent out an update for their Google Navigation app, that seemed to fix the issue. Before, i couldnt even get my phone to lock onto my location, now it dies, although not too terribly accurate (within 1000 meters), it still is decent.

And i'm quite surprised of the responses here. You actually got a balanced and non biased response. Most forums i frequent, if you were to ask a question like that, you would be e-flogged for asking and made to look like a fool.

Try going to the 350Z forums and asking what they think is better, the mustang or the 350Z.

With the JI6 update, the gorgeous AMOLED screen, media playback capabilities, Android OS, etc., I think it's a slam dunk - Vibrant all the way.
