Help Vibrant vibrating

Since upgrading to Android 2.2 my Samsung Vibrant won't stop vibrating. It randomly initiates a sequence of vibrations: one short vibration, then a pause, and then 3 quick vibrations.

It does this at any given time, seemingly for no reason. Tried taking out the battery, relating it to an application, and restarting the phone. In fact the moment it restarts, it starts this sequence of vibrations.

Is it the phone, or the android operating system?

Anyone having this problem, or found the solution?

I'm not sure on it, but my guess is that it has to deal with an app. Whenver I get it it's kind of like an "error" vibrate. I have had it once when it wouldn't stop and I had to pull the battery to make it stop. My guess is it's linked to an app.

That's my guess though, not 100% certain on it.

I've been having the same problem with my Vibrant. In addition to the constant vibrating, the ringtones and message notifications won't play. I switched launchers and that seems to have helped a bit but I'm still having issues with several of my apps freezing and force closing as well. (I only mention the last part because alot of the vibrating seems to be in conjunction with frozen apps.)

It would be great if some of you that are really well-versed with Vibrant issues could share some ideas. Thanks jchestang for posting.

Might be your WiFi connection - specifically, you may be connected to a WiFi network that requires a browser login. I was having exactly the same problem, but as soon as I turned off my WiFi, vibrations went away. I was connected to a WiFi network requiring browser login, then didn't actually login on the browser. Then as all the various network synch tasks went off in the background, they all failed to get a real connection.
