Vibrant vs. N1?

Sadly, the N1 is no more. Google has stopped selling them today, since they sold out. I guess your decision is made.

Wow they cant make more??

I had a N1 for 4 months til i dropped it last month and the screen broke. I gave it to dr cellphone but they cant fix it..guess ill be going with the Vibrant

i have both the vibrant and the n1... if you are into gaming, i would say get the vibrant.. if not.. then get the n1... n1 can handle 3d intense games like asphalt 5 or heavy gunner.. but it will never be as smooth and fluid as it is with the vibrant.

the best about the n1? stock android 2.2, updates and flash... touchwiz is just horrible imho, and you dont know when or if you will ever get and update.

the best about vibrant? gpu power, screen and all the internal memory... n1s screen is not the best under the sun and lots of games use lots of internal memory

Warranty support/technical support isnt going to be an issue, HTC is not going anywhere. Also just because the vibrant has "better specs" doesn't mean its a better phone. I'm not saying the Vibrant is a bad phone, I just feel that the N1 is superior.

Factually speaking? better specs DOES equal a better phone. Opinion wise you may be right some people can't take too much goodness. If the vibrant specs are better then how is N1 superior? don't even say faster updates because that may not even be true anymore and we all seen the night shots proving flash unnecessary.

What can Nexus One do to call it superior to the vibrant?

My friend just got a vibrant its a great phone looks nice but the touchwiz 3.0 is pure crap, he cant run other app launchers properly because of it.. and like half the apps are missing in market will not show up at all.. I tried to install applauncher pro and it was horribly buggy and the contacts would not work anymore had to remove it. My n1 runs everthing even seems faster at some things but I am running also applauncherpro so I am sure its contributing plus I am running 2.2 as well.. also his vibrant feels very cheap like it would break easily and has no flash I love how I can use my n1 as a flashlight and find myself using it all the time. If he can some how remove that touchwiz hunk of garbage im sure his phone would be pimptastic the hardware is there just need to get rid of the plague of a launcher samsung put on it, what a hunk of garbage.. wish I could some how make it so he could just run android stock and ide just slap applauncher pro on it but cant seem to figure out how to remove touchwiz.

tell him to try ADW launcher. It works well and is customizabl and it is free.

Dont get the touchwiz hate. It works fine and looks great. Get over how your old phone works, looks, and feels and get used to the new. Its just differnt from what you are used to. And feels cheap? Pff not at all. Putting the battery in adds weight and it feels normal.

Just stating my opinion man, don't take it personal. I PERSONALLY just like the N1 better. I like the build quailty better, I like the stock android over touchwiz, i like the trackball (i know according to everyone here im crazy), I like that i can download any app available, and i just like how the phone works overall better. The Galaxy is a great phone I just prefer the Nexus.

Agree, I don't think it feels cheap at all. I like it being light weight and imo, it isn't too light. Touchwiz is fine I think and I do think ADW launcher is cool. I just dont have it down yet but I like that it has a ton of options.

Personally, I think the Touchwiz works great and looks nice. Then again, I'm coming from a Motorola Cliq XT with the craptacular Motoblur interface. Anything is an improvement from that!

Keep in mind Android 2.2 IS faster than 2.1. When the vibrant gets the 2.2 update and you were to use ADW launcher, I am sure your perspective will change in those area's.

Alright, my question has been answered. No one needs to post in this thread anymore.

Im not taking it personally lol

ok here ya go.. both are great phones I personally prefer the Vibrant however both do have advantages over the other just depends on whats more important to you...

N1 advantages
1) pure vanilla android
2) flash
3) trackball
4) REAL notification light

Vibrant adcantages
1) WAY more memory
2) better core/processor
3) video out with FULL DLNA support
4) Super AMOLED screen

I have an N1 and went to a tmobile store to take a look at the vibrant...MY first impression was the phone feels cheap while holding the N1 in my other hand...Once i cut the screen on however is where the Vibrant shines, the screen is way better than the n1, and i was highly pleased with the n1 screen until seeing this new super amoled..touch wiz i cant comment much on...but if u owned and N1 the FEEL of the VIBRANT is a turn off.. If u never owned or saw a N1, then get the damn Vibrant

The Vibrant feels fine. I dont get the "cheap feel" comments. My iPhone is a solid feel too and is heavier but heavier dont = more solid. I likie the feel of the Vibrant. Like that it is lighter and if you take off the back, you can see it is solidly built. I just think it is a bit slippery though and really want to get a rubbery case to snap on the back, but not a crappy sillicon /gel case.

Granted ive never held a N1.

See the issue isnt that it feels cheap its the weight that throws you... if a phone twice the size of last years models weighs half as much you feel like your going to break it because of the weight but if you look and feel the materials individually they are of equal quality and feel. Hell the shell on the back of the vibrant is a hell of a lot better feeling by itself off the phone than my cliq or g1...
