Help Vibrant won't connect to Kies mini....Why?

I just downloaded Kies mini on my PC (Windows XP)....plugged in my ubs cord, but it won't connect to it....

...Can someone help please?

I found this tip elsewhere, but if you are using LauncherPro, turn it off and go to the TWLauncher. That's what was causing Mini Kies to not recognize my phone.

I have a similar experience with Win 7 ultimate.
(1) Installed Kies Mini, rebooted, started Kies Mini, connected the phone, got what looked like the "update available" screen except everything was in some chink-looking characters. Clicked what I thought is the "go" but nothing happened.
(2) Uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted, etc. When I connect the phone, Kies Mini doesn't see it. I'm selecting Samsung Kies on the phone USB option.
(3) Tried uninstalling the driver on the USB port to which my phone was connected. On connecting the phone the driver got reinstalled but same result - Kies Mini does not connect to it.

It just drives me up the wall when s/w doesn't do what it's supposed to. Doesn't anyone test this sh*t?

I have a virtual XP system on my Win 7 so maybe I'll try it tonight. Hopefully it can see the USB ports. If not there, maybe I'll try my old Server 2003 system although it only has USB 1.0

USB Debugging just let Kies Mini say that it doesn't support the phone in that mode and then it crashed.

I have to say that I'm completely underwhelmed by Samsung's ability to write software.

I had tried probably around 5 times trying to work with Mini Kies and had basically given up. But I figured what's another 30 minutes wasted, so I tried again today after reading more forum posts about problems with Kies recognizing the phone. I reinstalled Kies once more and used all the tips I collected along the way and it finally worked.

I really think Internet Explorer 9 beta had something to do with it. Don't ask me why or how, but I found a post somewhere that recommended the uninstallation of IE9beta, after doing that, Kies worked fine. Here are the steps I took:

Maybe this will help anyone else having trouble with Mini Kies.

1. I am using Win 7 32 bit.

2. Uninstall IE9 beta.

3. Install Kies and do a reboot.

4. Before connecting your phone, disable any launchers (ie ADW, Prolauncher, Go Launcher, etc). Make sure the phone is running Touchwiz.

5. For the USB settings: disable development setting, and enable "ask on connect."

6. Start Kies, let it get any updates it needs.

7. Plug your original USB cable into a rear USB slot on your computer, then plug the other end into your phone. Kies should recognoze your phone and notify you of an update-2.2!

I got updated to 2.2, took all of 5 minutes.

I'm having a similar problem, but I'm using Vista 64 business and Firefox. I plug my phone in and it shows the selection screen with Kies, Music, and Mass Storage. I select Kies, but even if I've opened Kies mini on my pc before or after doing this, it keeps asking me to connect my phone, although the phone shows it's connected. I'm trying to update to Froyo 2.2. Any suggestions or help?

Mine wouldn't update either, until I used the original power cord that came with my phone instead of my spare cord I keep at the office. Go figure that it would make a difference, but it did. It is a known issue (except for me).

thanks bro. waited 4 months to get this fixed. lol :D

Try doing this:

Uninstall Kies Mini, make sure your antivirus/firewall is disabled, reinstall Kies Mini, and restart your computer. After you restart your computer, run Kies mini to let it update, enable USB debugging mode on your phone before connecting it.

Hope this helps.

I was having the same problem with Kies mini which i had it installed
in to a Windows XP laptop and then proceeded to install the drivers from the
support website, I figured nothing wrong with it but, When I restarted the laptop
and started Kies mini, NOTHING!!! phone wasn't connecting...
So, I figured to use another computer, and tried with one running windows 7
I just installed Kies mini and figured that it will install the drivers by itself for windows 7... so I plugged the phone, and nothing happened...
but I noticed there was one driver that wasn't installed for the program to
operate the phone and make a connection. It was a samsung composite driver
after, closing Go Launcher and set TWlauncher as default,
It connected to the Kies and I was ready to start the update but,
I need to have my battery in full charge!!!!
so I still have to wait, oh and also I enabled usb debugging and It worked.
I didn't even had to chose samsung kies in my phone menu.
So here I am waiting for it to charge full...
but damn why do they make it that hard to freaking install a stupid driver that
its that important for updates?
 I love Samsung technolgy but dude sometimes...
