Root [VIDEO] 10min Root complete Guide

First root attempt. EASY AS PIE. Thanks so much for this great video guide, got it rooted and I'm stoked. Have your "unroot" guide added to my favs for when the official updates come out! Thanks so much!\

edit::: I am running Window 7 64 bit for all those having troubles. Follow his guide exactly! Perfection!

glad my video helped :)

Agreed, thanks for taking the time to make a vid. I've been rooted since yesterday and I'm waiting for some roms :)

anyone tried putting any of the Froyo ROMS that are already out there on their rooted Dinc?

I wouldn't mind getting rid of HTC Sense and going back to the stock Android I had on my MotoDroid.

fantastic...i wasted hours yesterday trying to root.took me about 20 min with your vid.....yes i paused your 10 min vid several times :)

tried both methods on two different computers, using two different SD cards, but it always fails. Even tried the downgrade a few times, but to no avail. Waiting for a more reliable root method... *sigh*

just reboot your phone and use root explorer

Nice. I just re-rooted I guess to get adb shell in recovery. I got it and got rid of what I needed to. DiegoMejia, thank you so much for all your help dude. I really appreciate the time you took to do all this and help other people. Classy guy.

When you root, does it wipe everything off your phone/card and you have to reinstall the apps and setup? If I mess it up, will a simple factory reset get me back to working?

So, this is the official way to root that is permanent? The reason I ask is because there is set of downgrade instructions. Why would you do this? If Verizon sends an OAU, do we have to root again?

There's quite a ways to go before we can load custom ROMs to our phones. Root is only one important step.

followed instructions to a T, can't get it to work either.
+1

Tried both methods. Windows 7 X64. Using the loop or the adb shell method will not get the desired message in the command prompt. Everything leading up to this step has worked as described in the video. Any suggestions?

I'm with everyone else who can't get it to work. I followed the steps exactly but it will never say anything but device not found.

I think it's the drivers as some others have said in other threads. I see two "generic volumes" in the device manager once I select recovery. Before selecting that, everything looks to be correct.

Tried rooting on Win7 32, Win XP 32, and OS X.

This is really the only thing I have the Device Manager once the phone is plugged in.

Mine worked first time too! :D

Ok, I am actually getting the same thing as you once past the recover boot menu. Doesn't seem like any devices in the dev manager once this is happening.

I don't know.. maybe it's just the card issue. I have used the 2gb SanDisk card that came with it, and then also an old 1gb SanDisk card that was in my old phone. Both seem to have the same result.
