Video: A quick rundown of the HTC Evo V 4G

So I looked into it. My heavy framework mods in my Rom caused it to go back to power+home. But it doesn't matter as screenshot is available from the power menu so I rarely use the key combo...

I thought it was nice that it downloaded all my apps from my last phone automagically. Don't remember that happening when I got the wildfire. I didn't expect much from the 3d feature but it works surprisingly well. The interface is super zippy. So nice to FINALLY have a full powered android device. 1 GB of space for apps, so roomy! I think me and this phone will get along real well! The display is beautiful. Sprint branding, I wouldn't mind if it said virgin instead of sprint on the front, but I do like that it has no branding on the back. I converted a pic from 3d to 2d and it came out pretty well. I'm sure if you blow it up it won't stand up to a full rez 2d pic, but on the phone it looks fine. You do get more "jaggys" on a 3d pic, but other than that they look really good.

But if people are saying it doesn't work, are you sure that the Evo V is the same? It may be that they are not quite timing it right, and it is power + home. But since this is the VM version (running ICS instead of GB), and not the Sprint one, they could have changed that.

power + home worked for me.
and for any one wondering the 3G speed was better.

Evo v here, it's power + vol down, hold for just a moment.

Hmm, it may be interesting to see if the software on all the devices is the same.

jmz is correct that it would be a software that does key mapping for this. Since a couple of different folks have done it different ways it be possible that devices are shipped with different firmware. Try comparing how it works for folks and see if there is possibly a couple of different versions of the stock firmware? Could be like jmz suggested and some are shipped with a newer version and some with an older one. The only other thing that would make sense is if both combinations were enabled and people just were not getting the timing right to get one or the other to work (and I don't find that as likely).

If these are re-flashed (but still new-in-box) Sprint 3d's like people are guessing, then it could be that some are flashed to different firmware versions. It could be possible if they were done at different places in order to get some of the phones out in a hurry.

(I would make sure that you are comparing Evo V's to Evo V's not 3D's, and make sure the people providing input haven't flashed a 3D ROM or anything, because that would make a difference).

Mine has the sprint branding on it also, and nothing on the back but HTC branding. When you call my voice mail now it says sprint.

On mine either Power wait half a second and hit home takes a screenshot or power + volume down at the same time takes a screenshot. So on mine both work. This is stock everything on the V, using the default sense, not a different launcher.

Ah, that works for me too. Power + home at the same time didn't work, but wait a half second then home works. They work slightly differently. Power + home saves to camera shots, and power + vol down saves to screenshots. Also the animation when it takes the screenshot looks a little different, and power + vol down leaves a notification with a link to your screenshot.

So that means that the default ics was left and HTC just threw in their own for shits and giggles
