Root Video camera problem?

Every time I install a rom on my friends Incredible, the video camera freezes the phone and requires a battery pull. First it was on a skyraider rom, then the newest skyraider rom. Then I had it stock sense unrooted and the video camera worked fine. Once rooted and running MIUI it's back to freezing. What could be causing this?

Is your friends phone new? It could be that the newer Incredibles have started shipping with a different camera hardware. The ROM's wouldn't have the appropriate drivers for the camera. I'm not really sure what else could be the problem.
