Root Video Camera Problems with custom roms.

I have tried UD, CM, BB, Charity, LFY and with every single one of them when I take video, the video is all choppy and audio is out of sync. I tried different kernel ulv,lv, and medium voltage. Its not an sd card problem because it doesn't do this with the stock rom. I even copied the video over to my PC and its still really bad. I don't have any problems when I take photos.

The one thing all these roms have in common is there all compiled from source. It seems all the new roms out now are compiled form source. Is there a rooted stock 2.2.1 rom floating around that I can try? The only stock rom that ROM Manager has is 2.2 or 2.1. I installed 2.2 and my video problem is gone but the "System Update" Notification is driving me nuts.

Also is it possible to apply a theme to a stock rooted rom?

I have been digging.. I would like 2.1 camera if that would work.
I even tried D2 & Dx camera.apk to no such luck..

I think my issues start at the 2.2 update (back in June?)

Im not sure how to help your problem specifically but I have also been having problems with the camera/video on my D1 ever since I flashed a new kernel about a week ago. IM geoing ton install BBv06.1 and leave the installed kernel that comes with the ROM, Ill test it out and let u know at least then maybe we can isolate the problem.

I had the same problem with BB 6.0. I think its the kernel because the stock 2.2 rom works just fine. Is it safe to flash the stock 2.2 kernel over 2.2.1 rom? Anyone know where I can get the stock kernel with out reflashing my droid?

It seems like the only way to fix the problem is to use a stock rom. Im currently using a FRG83 stock/rooted/deodexed rom that Peter Alfonso made. You can get it here Peter Alfonso I don't know what else to try. I depend on my phone alot so Im not going to mess with it anymore. I plan to jump ship to a newer phone in a month or two anyways so I guess I can live with a stock rom till then.

NVM...
reread...
I am gonna compare the media_profiles.xml with the stock rom vs. what I am running, just maybe I will find an answer..

Your digging alittle deeper than I was willing to go! If you find anything out plz let me know. After trying out a few other verizon android phones I think I'm gonna stick with the droid for a few more months. One thing I didn't get to do is try the stock camera app on a custom rom. If you want I can send you the stock camera app from the stock FRG83 that I have installed.

i went as far back as FRG01B trying the camera app same results.
I took a 1 minute video at HQ and it froze.

gonna try pre-frg rom's tonight.

I may have got it...
I tried every camera.apk I could extract off of Peter Alfonso's page with no luck.(camera would force close and become non-responsive until reboot)

So I decide to go back and get the camera.apk from LFY1.4. I was able to get 1minute worth without it freezing. I was so excited.

I then noticed I had it plugged into usb still, when I am plugged in I have setcpu profile set to 900max. I unplugged reverting back to 1000 and lo and behold it freezes up on the 1 minute video force closing the camera again.

so I rebooted and setcpu at 600max 1st video of 1min no problems, 2nd video 2mins no problem..

So basically the camera.apk cant handle the higher overclocks.

I have 2 options:
1: change setcpu to 600 before shooting video each time
2: since I have TASKER figure out how to have it automatically set it to 600 when I open the camera.apk

I am running LFY1.96 stock kernal (1000mhz), but have had previous unsuccesful results with other roms so in no way will I blame LFY.

WOOHOO I CAN SHOOT VIDEO AGAIN!
and now go to sleep!

edit:
not sure if the 1.4 camera version had any effect or not, I will go back to the 1.96 version tomorrow to make sure.

That is awesome news! After you try the 1.96 version could you send it to me? Im not gonna be able to access my computer to do it my self.

I just restored a back of UD 2.5 and clocked it down to 600 and it WORKED. That was using the camera app that comes with UD also. Could you tell me how you used tasker to do this automatically do this?

I haven't found away for TASKER (yet!)

And since 1.96 I was donation/reward VIP release I cannot send to anyone.
