Video chat/call incredible

ssandler

Newbie
I see there are several options for video chat for the evo, are there any apps that have been tested and approved for the incredible? Apple is releasing their app on the new Iphone, I would think android dev teams would create an app that can blow away any apple video chat app. i would love to see an app that allows video chat/call

Both those phones have front facing camera's, doing a video chat on the INC would a little odd if you ask me.

Fring. AND it works over the network instead of just WiFi, so you don't have to be constantly telling people to turn off their WiFi..... It works really well too, video is relatively smooth.

I've used it on my DInc with my friend on his Evo. While it is a bit awkward not having a front facing camera, If you can position a mirror behind the phone at the proper angle, you can get yourself while still being able to see the screen. Ghetto, I know, but it works. :p

I'm trying to figure out a way to do it better...

Wow. Fring is awesome. Never knew about it before. It works with every android phone right? So apple people have to use iphone 4 to iphone 4 on wi-fi only while this allows any android phone to any android phone on any company (sprint, verizon, etc...) over 3G and wifi and is free? Best app ever. I mean, I need to find more people with android phones but in a few months, maybe a year or two, everyone will be thinking about android and then it will be awesomer.

I haven't tried the micrphone yet. It does sound I'm just guessing and it seems obvious it would but I'm just curious if the audio is the same as a regular phone call.

Gotta check that out. I don't get the hype of a front facing camera. Yes, it's convenient if you do heavy video chatting, but I see it more as a novelty.

Fring is great!!! I just tested it out. The only item i now wonder about is integration with Google talk. Does anyone know if there is going to be an update, or are they working on a version where Google talk video chat will work on the inc?

I agree it is a little awkward about no front facing camera, but being able to talk and show my wife what the kids or I are doing is amazing!

im sure someone will develop a plug in camera for the Dinc. If not someone should, you'd get my money. One could even be built in to a silicone case, that would rule.

Figured out a better way yet? Would love to know. Transferring for my job and will be away from my family for awhile.

BUMP
Is Fring safe? It wants access to basically the entire phone. Wont mind doing a chat in front of a mirror or whatever...sure would like a front facing cam or a plug in for the Incredible!
