video converter

What is the recommended .mov to .mp4 video converter. I am looking for a good simple method to play .mov on my nexus 7 2013.

I finally decided on the following:
On my Windows 7 pc I installed 'Any Video Converter'. This seems to convert all that I need and is very simple to use.
On my Nexus 7 I installed a player called 'MX Player'. I can directly play (without converting) anything I can throw at it.

I now have the two possibilities and both are freeware.

I tired MX Player and it recognizes .VOB as a video file and even shows a thumbnail, but very briefly displays the initial screen of the video and then goes back to showing the thumbnails. Any ideas?

I had problems with MX Player on my N7, at least when playing files off an external drive. It was strange.

Discovered that ES File Explorer comes with a video playback tool that handled my videos just fine.

Strange I've had no problems on my nexus 7 with MX player. Isolated incident perhaps ?

MX Player has been OK for me since my install.
Maybe reinstall if you have problems.

My error. The .VOB I tried to play was just a brief title. That's why it flashed on the screen and then disappeared. I tried a longer one and it played perfectly.
