Root [VIDEO] HowTo UnRoot Incredible by downgrading

Have any of you continued to follow Diego's video's and experienced the latest one of the Froyo ROM??? Is it buggy??? Like I said, i've held back from continuing because of the rumored Froyo roll out to begin this week, but his video's are legit and I would imagine he wouldn't post a ROM that was crappy......anybody's thoughts? I'm fairly new to the ROM thing is why I ask.

I've unrooted to apply the 2.0 radio patch then gone on to reroot and apply several of the HTC based Froyo. I'm currently running a version of Adrynalyne's Second Wave, but also run FrankenRom, I prefer the Sense versions, though the vanilla roms are also very good. I'm inclined to think that there will not be a roll out this week.

When I did:

Instructions:
1. make Sure your microsd card is formated to FAT32
2. Place PB31IMG.zip on root of SD Card
3. Reboot
4. Hold Down Vol Down into HBoot
5. It will ask if you want to update
6. Select Up to accept
7. Wait..........
8. it'll finish updating and ask to reboot
9. select vol + to choose yes
10. Done

It doesn't ask me to update. It looks at the file zip file and does nothing. I want to get my phone to the factory setting like when I bought it from the store.

I have Android 2.2
baseband: 2.05.xxxxx
build: 3.16.xxxx
software: 3.16.xxxxx

Need help.. Thanks!

Does it give you an error about version numbers? Unless you have achieved s-off via unrevoked forever, there is another step involved. I followed the instructions posted by Adrynalyne here: http://androidforums.com/all-things...t-back-earlier-version-hboot.html#post1152750 when I downgraded.

It doesn't give me an error. When I push the volumn up, it does ask me to accept the update. It doesn't do "step 5 or 6".

It doesn't ask me to do anything. It just has the menu screen. I see it checking the zip file, but it doesn't ask me to update.

yeah, I will try to download it from somewhere else. Thanks!

So this will take me from Froyo back to 2.1, right? Does it do anything to the radio?

When I try to run this now with the correct file, it says Update Fail. Do I need it to show S-OFF instead of S-ON? If so, how do I do this?

I've tried everything I can think of to get PB31IMG.zip to autorun. I see the HBOOT takes a look at it but doesn't ask me to update. I've reformatted my card with the phone. I did with my PC. I tried another card. Nada. HBOOT comes up fine, looks for any updates then just goes back to its menu.

Any suggestions? I am eager to load the 2.5 radio and a 2.2 ROM but can't get past step 1.

If you downgrade would you also lose things like pictures, videos, etc. that would be saved on the phone?

Just wondering if i'm going to have to move those things to the SD card...

I've been following this thread, and everything else that I can find it seems clear that if you're unable to get into recovery (stock or ClockworkMod) it would appear to be a brick...correct?

My coworker attempted to update the radio on his and pulled the battery, or something too soon. It's unrooted, but when attempting to go into recovery, it just hangs on the HTC screen.

I've tried every which way I know how...but it seems with the newer radio/HBOOT, it won't allow me to downgrade.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I had root, with the S-OFF installed, and I did this, it went smooth eveyrthing said it went ok, and when i rebooted, its just boot looping, i had hboot .79, its not .77, I had radio of 2.15, and its back to 1.x, so idk what to do from here

because of my updated radio to 2.15? I had to run a diff PB..IMG file, thus now I am back to stock radio and recovery with hboot .79, and s-off, will i get the OTA?

Anyone know where I can download manually the OTA that came before Froyo? (official). I did the procedure to remove root and that went very well (Thank you!) but I'm guessing because Froyo was officially released the prior OTA was removed from the servers because the phone can't find it. I'd like to get up to date before Froyo is pushed if possible. Anyone have a link? Thanks guys!

I received the OTA update but my phone was rooted so I did the unroot procedure. However, I do not receive the update anymore. On the video, it showed up within minutes, but I see nothing. Is there a way to force it?

yes there is a way to force it. its call RUU. but be patient little grass hopper, your time will come.
