Can anyone help? i have been trying to place film files that i have converted to MP4 which is supposed to be supported by the Galaxy Note 2! but when i go to play it back on the device. It says its not supported?

I`ve tried using the MX Player, and for some reason i`m still getting the same problem. Other files that play on the there work fine? but other files in the same format don`t??? it tries to play the files but then i get a strange noise that sounds like static???
Are the MP4 files you're trying to play from iTunes? iTunes uses a Digital Rights Management scheme that will only work on i* products. You need to strip the DRM from the itunes files with a converter. I rip my own DVDs so I don't have any idea which iTunes converter is best. There are a lot out there for your PC though.

The films i`m trying to play are films i`ve converted myself using software, i`ve tried using different video players but all of them can not access the files????

I`ve used different types over the years, but i have seen a free video converter from samsung that i`m hoping will help. But was kinda hoping there would be a easier solution to this? wondering why Samsung devices are made this way?

Erm no haven`t tried that. But anything is worth trying i suppose. Didn`t think i`d have this much trouble with my Note 2?
I use Fair Use Wizard and MXPlayer for playback. Although my DVD rips will play with the built in samsung video player on my Galaxy S2 I like MXPlayer better.

Don't blame the phone for the MP4 playback issue, it is most likely the file, or Android having the issue. I have yet to put any movies on my phone, but I have been using Handbrake for years and it is a great free software.

Well when you get round to converting your files, then please let me know and i`ll use the same. Just seems strange that the files don`t play, May be a encoded wrong i`m thinking?
Prom, post a link to one of your videos, make it short and we will test it on our devices also. I also don't even waist my time using app converter, there are many online converters that are free and fast to convert any video you want

I have many different movies and video clips in both mp4 and avi formats that I play on my note 2 using a variety of video players including stock, they all work.
They were converted using different tools. I've used handbrake, magic DVD ripper, and catalyst.

It could be a codec issue within the mp4 container that is causing the issue. Or a corrupted transfer of the file if it works with other devices. I have quite a few of these and its usually one of these that mess it up.

I have managed to get hold of some software that will convert my film collection to a format the samsung note 2 will play!! but i have to pay for it? does anyone know of any free one`s i could use. But yes you were right it`s a codec issue.

For freeware alternatives, there's handbrake mentioned earlier. There's also avidemux. Not sure how good they are as I never really tried any off them.

Well i`m now beginning to think that all is lost lol i`ve tried all the players on the market to put on my Galaxy Note 2, bought some software to convert to a playable format to play on there and still it won`t work?????? these films just don`t want to play...

1) the files have DRM (Digital Rights Management).
2) codecs (video and/or audio) used within the container (ie. AVI, WMV, MKV, MP4, etc) are not supported by the Note 2.
3) video file is corrupted.
4) streaming HD content to the Note 2 (a very demanding video codec and lossless audio codec).
Could you screen shot the the audio and video codec streams of the troublesome videos? Maybe someone can point out what is compatible.

I have a question that's somewhat related.
There are a couple digital movie files that I have on my Note 2. For the longest time, I had issues with the DRM (even though I had purchased the DVD's and received the digital copy along with them). All of a sudden (not sure how exactly), they played without any issue on my Note 2 (using MoboPlayer).
I'm running into issues playing them on my Note 8.0 though. Anybody know how to transfer the files over from my Note 2, to my Note 8.0, without causing the DRM to go into panic mode and not play properly? I had originally downloaded to my PC and copied to my Note 2, and have never been able to figure out how the files were playing in Mobo all of a sudden. I figured, it'd be the same case with my Note 8.0, but the DRM still jumbles up the video on that device.
If anybody has a quick/easy answer/solution, I'd really appreciate it.

I honestly have no answer here. I had the same thing happen, except it was the other way around. I downloaded the digital copy and played it on my PC. Then transferred it to my previous Note. It worked right away without any issues. But then all of a sudden it coughed and gagged on the copy. Also lost the digital copy when I swapped out my motherboard for a RMA'd one. Picked it up as being another PC. Got tired of this DRM mess and just 'found' a copy of the movie I bought without this DRM hassle.

Okay, I found some info on the codecs. This is 'global' specs and not sure if a carrier will have the nerve to modify/restrict what it can encode/decode.
