Video Playback issues: No Playback / Codec Needed?

Well I'm New to Android and to the LG Esteem. My biggest issue currently with the phone is trying to play .AVI files (XviD format) stored both on the Internal Memory and on a generic 32GB SD card I bought for the phone.

When I first got the phone I WAS able to play the files in question with the stock video player. I don't know if it's because I added the SD card or if this is some type of a codec issue. Now I've downloaded a half dozen "Players" and none of them are working for me. Says invalid file format (the stock player says: no videos). MX Video player finds the files on Internal & SD Memory but there is no screenshot of the first frame (black) and simply says "Sorry, this video cannot be played."

Anyway, I've tinkered between hardware and software codecs but I have NOT tried any other videos except these .AVI's (there are over 67 of them). Anyway, I'm out of ideas. Thanks in advance!!!

PS - I should add there are no problems streaming ANY videos from the web. THIS MAYBE A NUTTY THEORY I HAVE BUT: It seems like once the video files get on my phone and moved around from folder-to-folder they become corrupted. I only mention this because I've transferred the files back to a PC and they can't be played now....Why???? Very odd as they worked fine initially.

I wouldnt think that moving them to external SD would corrupt them BUT I have heard that SD card sizes can be faked and that it may show 32 gb but in reality it could be a 2 gb card for example. Unless you bought the card from a legit merchant, I have read that it happens alot especially if the card was bought off of ebay or an Amazon "merchant". If that is the case, then anything moved to the card WILL corrupt. Since you have tried moving them to a PC and they are corrupted, this may be your problem.

Best thing is to format the card in your PC and then try filling up the card with large videos and see if they will play, if they play before moving to the card, then once on the card they can not, you may have a faked SD card. Just a thought, check it out....
