are there no good video players out there that can play all types of video files, i thought i saw something about windows media player for android but it not in the store...

I'm using MX Player as well and so far I have not found anything it could not play.

Thumbs up for MX Player here. It's also optimized to expand to full screen size.

Yes - MX all the way. Nice thing with it is you don't have to bother converting any videos to the standard Android/Nexus format. It will play almost any industry standord video format (avi, divx, 3gp to name but a few).
