Help video plays on it's side on tv

i just recorded some video and attached the phone to my tv. whether i use the stock video player or mx player it shows correct until i press play at which time it changes to being on it's side. it doesn't matter what orientation i turn the phone to it just stays on it's side.

the video was recorded in portrait.

any ideas how to solve this guys?

I've found out that all videos should be filmed in landscape. It seems that the phone doesnt recognise the difference between landscape & portrait when recording video.

Your phone is telling the TV its a landscape video & this cant be changed (as far as I know).

Not sure if this works, but you have tried the "screen orientation" option in mx player? During playback using MX Player its found by the following tap sequence:

Menu Key | Display | Screen Tab -> Orientation.

i think i tried that in mx. it was something like auto rotate or similar, it didnt fix it.

Best option is prob to search for some software you can install on your pc to rotate the video. Then film videos in landscape in the future
