Help Video problem on Samsung S3

Hi all,

While I was taking video of my son the other day while on vacation, the video suddenly stopped and my phone froze. I was able to unfreeze the phone but when I went to watch the video later that day I got the following message " Cannot play video, sorry this video cannot be played. My videos are backed on a Sandisk 16GB microdisk so I figured I could just upload the video to youtube and everything would be fine. FAIL ! Next , I tried to fix the MP4 file using software from Remo Software. FAIL. I downloaded MX Player on my phone. FAIL. Lastly, I took the disk out of my phone and tried to view the file on my laptop using various programs like VLC Player. FAIL ! I am at my wits end. Is there any way to view/repair this file ? I would be heart broken if this file was lost .Thanks in advance.

regards,

Tom

Someone would have to look at the file in a hex editor to answer your question. The question is whether it recorded as a valid video file or it got corrupted. If it's corrupted, there's nothing you can do - you can't 'create' the original information that's now lost. If it recorded properly, but the header got damaged, someone might be able to take an mp4 header and prepend it to your file with its header cut off, and modify the header to make the file work. (I'm not saying that you can do it, but if the file isn't corrupted, it's possible to fix the problem if someone with enough knowledge and experience worked on it.)

Sorry to say but whenever my camera has frozen or force closed while recording video, the file got corrupted and was just unplayable :(
Welcome to the forums though
