video record problem really annoying

For some reason no matter what I do...my videos while recording always stop working and the cam freezes up at anywhere from 10-13 minutes and I have to restart my phone in order to get the camera to work again. I have plenty of room on my SD card. My media profile stats are...

<CamcorderProfiles
cameraId="0">

<EncoderProfile quality="hd" fileFormat="mp4" duration="60">
<Video codec="h264"
bitRate="4000000"
width="1280"
height="720"
frameRate="30" />

<Audio codec="aac"
bitRate="64000"
sampleRate="44100"
channels="1" />
I have the bitrate set at 4000000 because my SD card is a class 4. It only writes at 4mb a sec so I figured this setting would stop the record stutter and audio unsync and time freeze issue but it don't. Any help or info would be much appreciated.

running cm7 tg reloaded, stock cam and/or lg cam

I started having video stuttering issues regardless of ROM and replaced my SD card with a SanDisk Ultra 16GB class 10 (the gray & red ones, cheap now at Best Buy) and so far the issue has not reappeared. SanDisk brand cards seemed to get the best reviews for performance when I did a little internet research.

First, you might try just moving all your data off the card & reformatting it & copying back & see if that helps, but I'm betting it's the card itself.

I was thinking of trying that...i do have a scandisk..just not an ultra. I'll try that and repost results back in a few days after I run some testing.

ok...i got a new sd card...a class 10 PNY 32 gig at 10 mb/sec...so far i set my bit rate to 6000000 and min bit rate at 4000000 and my videos recorded smooth as butter for over 24 minutes (i stopped it then) but im happy now. oh and framerate seemed to improve by 1-5 fps.

Cool- glad the change of card seemed to help! It's funny, I've even had problems with one PNY 8GB card and been fine with an identical one...I think the cards (like RAM) run a while range of specs in real life & they just test them to make sure they at least meet minimum specs. In the end, it's whatever works with your phone! :)

With the premium for buying a class 10 card being almost non existent why bother with anything else? Theoretically a class 6 should be able to keep up with 1080p recording and this phone only supports 720 but real life suggests otherwise.
