Help Video recording at gigs?

VBQ

Lurker
Hi,

I have a HTC Desire HD with Android 2.3.3. I used to own a Nokia 5800 which whilst not running Android, did used to prove very successful when recording sound at gigs. However, when I tried to record at a recent event, I found the sound quality on my HTC very bad and "fuzzy". Is there anyway i could improve this?

Thanks,
Sam

Welcome to the forums! :)

Is it when you played it back on the handset, or when played back on your PC? The speaker on the handset itself is notoriously bad, but I've never really had an issue when recording, it always sounds acceptable when played back on the PC.

You have to remember, this is a phone, not a real camcorder. The limitation is the microphone, it's not meant for recording, it's meant for phone calls. And it's really bad when you are trying to record a concert, where the sound is incredibly louder than the mic can handle.

Ah right ok, I might use my old phone just for the recording then... There aren't any settings I could try changing or anything are there?

I think the mic (along with the speaker) is just one area of the handset that is generally lacking.

Seems a shame to use your old phone for recording gigs etc as I imagine the video quality on the DHD is much better.

You could try using the handsfree headset mic, idk, just thinking that a lot of hand free stuff uses noise reduction... maybe that will work for you.

Cheers.
