LG Optimus S - Why can't I text a video or upload it to Facebook?

Because you don't know how to use your phone. :)

Just kidding, but seriously... The things that you want to do are possible (and easy), but it's hard to help you since you didn't provide ANY information about the steps that you're taking or the errors that you're receiving. We're not mind readers.

As far as texting video, you might want to make sure that you've set your video camera app to a video-quality of MMS, though I've never found that necessary. To send a photo or a video, open up your (photo) Gallery and long-press the item that you want to send. Then select "Share" from the bottom menu. You'll figure it out from there.

Well, you are absolutely right, I have had the phone for a week with no time to try and figure it out, and I don't know how to use this thread either!!

Seriously, too much to type -- I've tried EVERYTHING!!!!

As for the video - I hit "share" "messaging" and I get "Messag size limit reached. Sorry, you cannot add this video to your message." And when I hit Share, Facebook is not an option and if I go to Facebook and try to upload it from there it does not find the video, only the pictures that I took.

As for the pictures from text, I get the picture, open it, and that's it. The menu button brings up nothing, touching the picture does nothing, pushing any button does nothing. So basically, NOTHING! hehehehehe

As for texting pics it will resize compress type but IF you email with your gmail it will stay the same size.
For videos you must use the low MMS setting it will count you down on a 30 timer if I remember correct.

As for getting to the MMS setting, open the camcorder app, along the right of the screen there are three pale white symbols/lettering. The bottom one probably says High. Tap that, then select MMS (Low, 30s). As for Facebook not showing up as an option you'll need a different app for that. I use the Photo and Video Places app that someone over at XDA extracted from the Samsung Moment. I don't have the link handy, sorry. Before using that, I usually would upload the video to Youtube, then share it to FB from there, but that's a pain in the buns. I'm sure a search of the Market would find some other apps you could use to upload video to facebook.

Found the link. HERE it's in the second post.

To expound on SandersJC64's comment, text messages can't be too big, so there is a limit on the size of the video that you can send by "texting". The MMS setting on the camcorder has lower video quality that produces smaller video files, and makes sure that they fit into text messages. It's possible to text (MMS) a higher quality video but then the video has to be of a shorter duration to stay within the size limit. I believe that's limitation set by the MMS standard, not a limitation of the Optimus.

And as SonicBlueMustang pointed out, if you're sending photos, be aware that they get compressed heavily (into a low quality version) if you text them to somebody, but remain uncompressed (original high quality) if you email them to somebody.

RazzMaTazz - I have tried as small as a hair of a split second - NO LUCK. The Optimus is not allowing the operation AT ALL. It blocks it and gives me the message as I stated above, that I have reached my message limit.

To everyone, I had a Samsung Instinct for the last 3 years that with ONE CLICK uploaded videos to Facebook as well as texted the videos to my family and friends. Over this past weekend I was unable to attend a family function and I received 13 texted videos of the events taking place at the function. Dancing - quite long - toasts, etc., from 13 different family members with various phones. Unfortunately none with the Optimus and therefore I can only believe that it is something with the Optimus, not just texting or uploading in general.

SandersJC64 - thank you, yes, those symbols were there and it was set to "high". Howver, I changed it to MMS, YouTube, and low, and still get the message IMMEDIATELY when I opt for texting a video. At the Sprint website it even gives you a video to tell you how to "text" videos, but step by step ends in the same result the error message.

I have no problem texting videos or photos as described above.

I also have no problem posting videos to YouTube by going into the phone's Gallery, long-pressing the video icon in order to select it, and then hitting "Share" on the bottom of the screen. (YouTube is an option.)

I couldn't find a way to upload video through Facebook's mobile website or regular website. But maybe it's possible through the Facebook app. I don't have that installed so I don't know.

Your post above indicates that you can't receive video texts. Is that what you're saying? Because earlier, you seemed to be saying that you couldn't send them.

Nope, not possible through the FB app either. Direct video uploading to Facebook requires a third-party app for our phone, unfortunately.

@Tortorea, you can't set it to MMS and Youtube at the same time.
