Help Viewing Files

Boomer

Newbie
I have a folder I keep pictures in. They are mostly jpg files.
In one folder I have some gif and jpg files and they show as the actual picture.
When I open the othe folders with jpg files in it I'd like to see the actual pictures instead of the generic jpg file pictures.
Does anyone know how I can fix this? I've tried changing the viewing options but nothing seems to be the way I want.
Thank you.

What app are you using to view the image files with?

(also knowing what device and version of Android you have might be helpful)

Also, I'm a little confused by "actual pictures" and "generic jpg file pictures"...both .gif and .jpg files are picture/image files, so I would imagine that whatever app you're using would display both in the same manner.

Thanks and Happy New Year! :)

Thank you for your help. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 using Jelly Bean.
When I open the picture folder I'm using Solid Explorer.
Let's say I have 2 pictures in the folder. One of a dog and one of a cat. I can't tell which picture is which because they both look the same. The name of the file is numbers since I haven't renamed it yet.

Okay, I think that helps :).

I've got Solid Explorer, too, and I have 3 pictures in my INTERNAL MEMORY > DCIM > CAMERA folder.

My View options (selectable from the 3-dots / vertical ellipses / menu at top right) shows View mode is List and Sort mode is Name with Only this folder unchecked.

The list mode is showing a thumbnail, the filename (in standard IMG_<date>_<time>.jpg name format), and a date/time.

I can copy those images to another folder (say TEMP) and change the View mode to Gallery (shows a larger thumbnail) or Grid (shows a thumbnail and the filename) or Compact (shows small thumbnail and the filename w/o the date/time).

Will these View mode options not do the trick for you?
